Buyer asked to return item

I offered a wood plane for Sale.  Buyer purchased and then claimed it was defective and wanted to return it.  I agreed and Ebay closed the transaction at that point and the Buyers says he can't find a way to print a return shipping label because of the closed transaction.  I can't get any information from Ebay on how to do this and can't find a phone number to call Ebay.  Can someone provide a number to me?

Re: Buyer asked to return item

Do you know why ebay closed the transaction? I assume you mean they closed the return. It's not typical for ebay to do this unless too much time has passed. How long ago did all this happen?

Are you certain you didn't refund the buyer (accidentally) instead of approving the Return request?

Was it this? Bench Plane New

eBay doesn’t close returns unless too much time has passed. I have a feeling your buyer closed it.
The buyer is the only one besides eBay that can close a return.
No one can provide a phone number for eBay, because they don’t post one. eBay can’t help you with a closed return. As far as eBay is concerned the issue is resolved.

Or you issue the refund BEFORE the buyer returned that would close a return as well. As @mtgraves7984  said.

Oh yes, this is possible too. I've had it done to be a few times. If so, just issue the buyer a return label via pirateship.com or something and email it to them. Issue the refund when the item returns back to you.

Re: Buyer asked to return item

Did you click refund instead of accept the return?

If you refunded, the case is closed and the buyer won't get a shipping label.

Have a great day.

Re: Buyer asked to return item

I said I would accept the return and ebay refunded the buyer's money.  Of course I have not gotten my plane back.  I will try the pirateship.com and send him a return label that way.  I even told Ebay I had not gotten my plane returned and they have done nothing about it.  I thought they would contact the buyer and he would tell them the problem.  But, he has never heard from them.

Once the buyer was refunded, the case was closed and Ebay won't do anything to help.

Have a great day.

Re: Buyer asked to return item

@killian6pk

When you do a refund, you have two choices - refund and return for refund.  If you chose refund, you refunded the buyer and they are not required to return.  Is that what happened?

There are only three ways (that I know of) that a return gets closed - you select refund instead of return for refund, the buyer physically closes the return, or the return times out.  If the buyer closes the return, or the return times out, there is no refund given to the buyer.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.
