A buyer was unhappy with an item; started a return - no big deal, I gladly take returns. Since then it's been all downhill; I have been nothing but professional asking him to just return the item for a full refund time after time. He keeps emailing me calling me names (racist, obese, psychopath, white trash, liar, thief, etc - you have no idea the stuff he's been saying like "I set off his mental illness"!) and telling me he HAS to refund me right now without returning the item plus he's told me numerous times he is not returning the item.
He's been reported numerous times, I keep calling ebay and they give me lip service (service ref numbers, case numbers, "we will take action against him/his account", "remove feedback", etc, etc) but he keeps emailing me (yes he's blocked but because there is an open case he can still email). This has been going on for 10 days and I'm so frustrated. While they tell me that they won't tolerate hate speech and threats, they allow this to continue with no recourse for me. I can't contact anyone in the US or legal or anyone that can look at this and actually help me. I am a long time (since 1999) top seller and this is just beyond belief that this continues and that ebay allows it. How can I contact anyone in legal or someone that can actually do anything? I keep calling customer service (the only way to contact anyone) back with the case numbers and then it becomes a comedy sketch with "yes I understand", "we are pleased to have you as a long time member of the ebay community", "don't respond anymore to him", etc, etc. Any help?!?!?

Just delete his messages without reading them and without responding. Treat it like the spam it is.

Dear Buyer Please return the item for a full refund, including return shipping. Sincerely, Seller.
Rinse & repeat as often as necessary.
Eventually the case will time out in your favor if buyer doesn't return item.

I don't respond at all. But now he's retalitory and ebay really needs to be aware of his actions; as a seller would you want this unleashed on you?

stop responding..........I presume he hasn't opened a return case........if he does, just accept the return and DON"T SAY ANYTHING TO HIM...............

I do say that over and over again; however, as a seller would you like buyers like this to continue to be on ebay?

I have learned these people exist, there isn't much I can do about it but once I have given a person such as this a satisfactory answer to their initial inquiry I have the RIGHT to remain silent.
That's how I deal with it, do not engage further.

He has opened a case; my settings are set to automatically accept returns. I haven't engaged him at all except to say please return item for a full refund....

Seriously, you get over 10 days of emails from a deranged buyer with 2-5 emails a day?
05-18-2021 09:29 AM
I get that; my point is that ebay should do something more with this buyer - is this someone we need on ebay?

leave it at that........all you can do. Reading/responding to his trash just encourages him to keep at it.........

I would report it to ebay, and delete any further messages from the nutcase. Plain and simple. I get spam in my regular email every day. I don't stress over that either. I just delete it. Same applies to the messages of this mentally unstable person. Delete.
I could care less what they are saying, because I would not waste my time reading it anyway.

It makes no difference what we think. His account has likely been tagged. If enough people report him, Ebay will do something about it. There is NOTHING else you can do. Just delete his messages.
If he leaves bad feedback, CALL ebay and ask them to remove it, they should.
If he returns the item, refund him and move on with your life.

Unfortunately, this nutty buyer can keep emailing. For a long time actually (we had one last a couple of months).
First. Create a folder in case these in totality are ever needed.
Label it something fun. E-Bay won't let me type my folder here. I used Banshee Beee-oootch.
Email comes in. Move to folder. Do not read, do not open.
Stop giving this crazy person power over you thru emails.
Good luck with your return case.
