But, I like Paypal. why change?

I don't grasp it all, but I am starting to see listings that are part of a roll out of "managed payments?' program. I searched for something last night and found what I wanted at a fair price and I tried to buy it. But, on the next screen the message said that the seller was testing managed payments and I couldn't use Paypal??? Really? But, I like Paypal. It is easy, I have a Paypal balance, I have Paypal credit, all because of eBay. Now, I can't use it on this new program? C'mon eBay. You know what I did? Yep, back button.  Why re-invent the wheel? Profit?

Why can't Ebay use Ayden AND Paypal simultaneously?

I've had no problems with PayPal either but I can name one very significant reason why this will be a good change......

It's going to save me a lot of money!!!!!!

If eBay can make some money out of it as well that's just fine with me. eBay provides me with an opportunity, the more then can make on things other than seller fees the better off I'm likely to be.

On the other hand PayPal provides me with nothing much at all.

How much money will you save when buyers, confronted with the sudden need to sign up for yet another payment service, just leave?

Buyers don't need to sign up for anything, they simply go through checkout as they do today and use the payment method of their choice AS THEY DO TODAY (except with more choices and the same choices from all sellers).

I don't understand the sudden love affair with PayPal, when eBay owned few people had good things to say about PayPal not to mention the much hated John  Donahoe is now the Chairman of the Board of PayPal.

Well youre WRONG because I tried to make a purchase with my paypal balance and couldnt do that so cancelled the order.

Already explained. eBay wants the profits that are now going to PayPal for processing payments.

Use the search filters...there is an option to see sellers that accept PayPal...You just have to Search for it.

Re: But, I like Paypal. why change?

Sorry to disapoint you, but they removed that search filter in "customize search" settings about the same time that managed payments was rolled out. It is no longer available there. Ebay knows how to "force" an issue.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's still there.

And when PayPal becomes available later this year it will be only as a form of payment for buyers to use, and it will not be going into the PayPal accounts of sellers opted  into "managed payments".

Thanks, posts last year alerted that eBay missed that "Accepts PayPal" checkbox ... because it's eBay.

But the "Accepts PayPal" checkbox that you see here:

is no longer there in your "Customize your search" window. You can still filter on Accepts PayPal without a checkbox by adding &LH_PayPal=1 to the search URL.

I find it fascinating too given that 1) almost no one I know offline has or uses PayPal (my friends all use Venmo and Google Pay for things like splitting bills and paying each other back for stuff), 2) a lot of the people I know online don't like PayPal at all and would prefer not to use it, and 3) most of the people I know who buy online in general just use their credit/debit card.  These forums are the only place where I see such fervent devotion to PayPal.

Same way they took 'has PP' out of the buyer blocks

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

I don't think that there is such fervent devotion to Paypal but more of a desire to be able to handle my money the way I want.  As a seller, I don't want daily transfers into my checking account.  I want to be able to decide when I will transfer money from my account and how much to leave in it.  We, as sellers, have that now.  Why would we want to go to a system that doesn't give us a choice?  And why take away, even temporarily, the buyers right to pay with Paypal on all transactions?  People are used to using Paypal as a means of payment.  They have become accustomed to it and find it to be a fairly safe method of payment.

Some people don't hand out their CC numbers to just any business that wants them. And I am one of those people.  I rarely buy on any site that doesn't take Paypal as a means to pay.  Its convenient, its easy and my CC numbers are not spread all over the universe.  When I do use my CC it is with a company that I am familiar with.

With so many sites so vulnerable to being hacked in this day and age, I prefer to keep my personal information to a minimum on the internet.

COYOTES RULE!!!

I like PayPal.

I've used it for almost 20 years.

I've never had an issue with PayPal.

I like that I can buy and sell all year without any transaction touching a bank account or credit card.

Re: But, I like Paypal. why change?

Tonight I tracked down and purchased halogen lightbulbs for an old pharmacy lamp that I use constantly when doing needlework.  You know, the lamp with two arms and you can raise/lower them and swing them around.

This bizarro bulb cost $30 (I bought two, to be safe; if one just went, the other will, soon) and I found it on a site I am most likely to never, ever visit again.

Did I want to sit here and fill out all of that address/credit card info?  No, and I didn't have to because the site took paypal.

Anyone (almost anyone) who has been here for any length of time is comfortable with paypal.  It's certainly easier to use as a seller but I do not blame ebay for wanting to find a presumably less expensive alternative.

I've had count-on-one-hand issues with paypal, at most, and those were resolved in about 45 seconds via phone.  I'm seeing it at more and more places I wander into on the world wide web.  Do my kids use it?  No, they've never been exposed to it and use dedicated credit cards with low limits for online shopping.

When it gets right down to it, I don't trust ebay to make this transition to Adyen in any type of seamless glitchless way.  And it's my money, not a Shopping Cart or Combined Shipping or What Day Is A Holiday mistake on a listing.

Ditto.

I have good luck with customer service, too.

But then again, I manage my expectations. 😂

Re: But, I like Paypal. why change?

Nope. Am searching ebay right now and it is not in that set of "show only" filters either. There are 11 checkboxes now instead of the previous 12
