Botched a return

Made the mistake of shipping the wrong item to a very nice buyer. I had never done a return before and got somewhat confused by the process. I thought I had sent a label for the return but the buyer never received.

I, without having my ducks in a row, processed the refund immediately without waiting for the returned item. I'm new, but no excuse. My question is, how do I provide a return label after the fact?

No hard feelings on either end of the transaction, and if not returned, I will of course, chalk it up as a learning experience and go on.

Re: Botched a return

It is too late now since the return is closed, but if the buyer wants to return the item, you can ask the buyer for their PayPal address and send them money for postage. Since you say it is a nice buyer, they might send it back, though in most cases like this, odds are it will not be returned.

Re: Botched a return

You can use a third party shipping label service like Pirate Ship to purchase the label and then electronically send it to the buyer for them to return the item. Pirate Ship has the same discounted shipping rates as those offered by eBay, sometimes a bit better.

Re: Botched a return

All on me, I think I will just let them keep it. Costly lesson to learn, but It's mine, I own it. I guess I cancelled out the label when I issued the refund. Thank you for answering. I read these boards every day. I was just caught up in something else at the time and did not take my time.
