Usually a Combo of a Promotional Sale (% off) and using Promoted Listings campaigns to promote the selected items in search.
Promoted Listings usually are effective and you only pay the promotion if/when the item sells.

With your items being such as they are... maybe try 'suggestive' selling?? (Put a line in your listing description to offer a discount if a buyer purchases multiple items, etc.) With your items being in such a 'niche', I imagine that it's hard to get many views at all, no? Take advantage of every look you get. Good luck to you...

I find if I actually look at a given item, that it is more likely to sell in the next day or so.
I get an upsurge in book sales if I rearrange my bookshelves. I sell more patterns when I check to see that long tail listings are still in stock. I get more orders for postage lots when I update my numbers available (up or down).
And yes, I know that is magical thinking.
Look at your niche.
Can you market specifically to the Black members? I understand that African-American* women spend a lot of time and money on their hair.
* I am neither.
