So I saw a listing on the Market District through Facebook I reached out to the party listed and this is what I received :
Thanks so much for getting back to me. After my husband passed I had to move to my hometown in Omaha, Nebraska for a new start. Before leaving I had pre-arranged the deal with eBay so my presence isn't necessary. The boat is in the eBay custody at their shipping company, sealed with all the papers. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address within 2-3 days. Once you will get the boat you will have 5 days to try it out prior to making any purchase. In the case that you feel that the boat is not suitable, you can just return it, all fees being on my expense. When receiving it you will have as well all the documents including title, sale bill , 2 sets of keys, full service records and more. The title and the bill of sale will be notarized and signed by me. If you would like to receive the official email from eBay with all the transaction details, please reply with your full name, full shipping address and phone # so I can notify eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer, and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.
WOW people will stoop so low to scam

LMAOROFL!!!
Run for the hills!
Do people actually believe "ebay" sells items for people and that they have a shipping company? LOL

And some people are still falling for it. It only takes one sucker to make for a good payday.

It's been around awhile. They just plug in different towns and expensive cars/trucks/boats.

And you even get 5 whole days to try it out....to see if you like it.
Lmao
Scam with a test drive twist.
And the email has so many grammar errors, wording sequence errors.
Funny read. Except someone still falls for this stuff. 😞

It's an old, old scam. People come here every day, victims of it. If you Google it to see how huge, ongoing, and highly successful a scam it is, often perpetrated by people outside the U.S.
Of course no boats or vehicles, exist, no such persons as whatever names are used exist, the sob stories are fantasies to justify the stupidly low prices, eBay never has and never will work this way, the invoices and recipts sent will be phony, and the ultimate payment will be in untraceable gift cards so the victims will never recover one dime.
But the conman's old motto that "you can't con an honest man" has some truth in it. People who hope to get something for a fraction of its value due to someone else's misfortune do get stung.

Scammers are thieves trying to steal.
Which scams do you think do not stoop that low?
Are some scammer considered to be a "better class" of scammers?

It's really sad..
Many people that don't know eBay and/or fakebook fall for this garbage..
We still have folks paying the IRS with Itune gift cards..
It's so darn sad.. Lying, scheming, scamming dirt-bags used to be the exception they are quickly becoming the rule. It makes my heart die a little every time I see this stuff.

How do these people (not you OP, the people that fall for these) survive in life? Seriously.

Just like those "Hi, I'm Prince Komali from Saudi Arabia, if you help me get my $6,000,000 riches I'll split it with you! I just need $2,000 for the document fees and then we'll bot be rich!" scams. 😄

Honestly the people who fall for this type of stuff are probably victimized repeatedly, sadly.

Or the racetrack touts. If they had good, solid, reliable info or really were expert handicappers, they'd keep it to themselves so as to not mess up the odds, place their bets, and make a lot more than the ten bucks they'd get from me for a tip sheet.

Yes. There was also the 'magic warehouse' where cars & boats ect. were stored before delivery to the buyer. Strangely the warehouse was always at the opposite end of the country from the buyer so 'unfortunately' the buyer would not be able to inspect the car before payment. 'Fortunately' though the shipping company would magically turn up again 5 days later to ship the car back for free if the buyer didnt like it.
