Board notifications messed up ?

This has been going on for weeks now.

If someone mentions me or gives me a thumbs up.

The notifications will be repeated multiple times.

So I will have 3-4 notices, all with the same time stamp, from the same member.

Anybody else seeing this ?

Yes, I mentioned it last week in chat and they told me they are aware of the problem.  It happened with they fixed the other problem of quotes not identifying the authors. 

When they fix glitches around here, it is like playing whack a mole.

I particularly like the personal email that follows a week later from the day someone clicks helpful on a conversation. It's always nice to start the day in utter confusion what the email is about.

You help the person you quoted by removed the "at sign" in front of the username you are quoting. That's what triggers the notification.

I did that for this post and you won't get a notification.

But it gets a little silly when you get an email telling you that you mentioned.................................   yourself

Yes. My current theory is that the notifications are sent out when the reply is posted, but if the poster then decides to edit or fix something during their 5-minute window of opportunity, the notifications are sent out all over again when the revised reply is posted. If that is in fact what's going on, they should limit the outbound notifications to only one per post per user (target). 

That way, someone whose ID is mentioned more than once in nested quotes won't get bombed with multiple notifications, and one whose ID appears in a post that goes through one or more rounds of last-minute revision won't get hit with notifications from every saved post edit.

(I'm doing a last-minute revision here, so Dave, tell me if you get more than one heads-up about this reply.) 

One other bug I notice that crept in with their attribution fix: the quoted ID looks fine in the editing window, but when the reply posts, it loses the space between the ID and the word "wrote:" that follows it, letting the ID and the following word crash into each other. I manually fixed the quote attribution in this reply.

You get them whether or not you revise a listing if you use quotes that name other sellers---including yourself.  I'm getting alerts that I tagged myself.
