Can you block eBay users from sending messages who harass and threaten you. I have been talking to another eBay seller that is being harassed by other users this past week. One such user originally posted in the community discussion boards because they didn't like the item he was selling. Apparently the post prompted a couple of others to send ugly threatening messages too. I know you can block people from buying, but if you put them on your blocked bidders list does that prevent them from messaging you too? I haven't had this problem for many years so I don't remember.

I forgot to mention that there is a link to report threatening messages to eBay in the Member to Member Contact policy page, see below.

there is a place to block messages from blocked buyers... And for sure put them on the blocked bidders list.
Best is to simply ignore such and never respond to such messages.. If they get no attention they usually go away.

The answer really depends on how these people are messaging your friend.

People can be so cruel sometimes.... what a shame that this is happening to this seller over an item they are just trying to sell....

Curious. What kind of item got all this attention? Does it fall outside of what ebay allows?

Best thing to do is to completely ignore/delete the messages...........if your friend engages them, they will just continue..........

We should all keep in mind that when we see any thread or post that identifies the seller IN ANY WAY, it should be reported to the moderators IMMEDIATELY. The list below can also include copy/pasting the exact title of a listing, or any other method that might be used to trace back to the seller (or, conversely, a buyer).
From the Community Rules of Engagement:
"8. No naming and shaming. We will not tolerate posting about listing or member violations. Item numbers, auction links, negative/neutral feedback scores, other members’ ID or contact information posted for the purpose of shaming another member will be edited or removed."

Yes, eBayers can block messages from a member on their block list. This block is found in Buyer Requirements. It is not foolproof though, as another poster pointed out. Also, if the seller has had a transaction with the offender, those messages will not be blocked.

I did advise the seller to add those users to their Blocked Bidder list and to change their settings with Buyers Requirements to prevent them from contacting or messaging on active and future listings. I also said to report them to eBay and ignore those messages. There hasn't been any transaction, nor is it a prohibited or restricted item. It's just sad that some people are just nutty.

Why are you assuming it was the result of something the seller did?

Huh? Let me get this straight of what happened so I’m clear.
A seller (A) posted here about how he didn’t like a specific item that another seller (B) is selling. Seller B (and other user accounts) find out and send harassing messages to Seller A, is that correct?
