Bidding Process

I had an item listed for sale BIN or BO.  I received two offers a minute apart.  Item was priced at $175.00.  One offer was for $100 and the other was for $135.  I countered them within seconds of each other and one buyer came back with another offer which I countered again.  He then accepted the counter offer I sent and the deal was done.  The other buyer that I had not heard from again after my first counter emailed me this  morning saying she had 24 hours to counter and that she was accepting the original counter offer from  yesterday and she thought it should be hers because she had 24 hours to respond.  correct me if I am wrong, she can't keep the item off the market for herself for 24 hours, she needed to see if someone else was also bidding. Thoughts before I ship this package to the other buyer?  I don't want to ship it and have ebay side with the second prospective buyer.  I think I handled it correctly.\

Thanks.

This potential buyer misunderstood the process. She had UP TO 24 hours to decide.  If an offer or counteroffer is accepted then the item is Sold and any other active offers or counteroffers just immediately expire.

Re: Bidding Process

Ship the order to the buyer that Ebay shows it has sold to.

The presence of an offer, just like having an item in the cart is subject to prior sale.

She who hesitates loses.

Re: Bidding Process

You can politely reply to let them know that as nobodys posted, a pending offer does not "reserve" that item while they "consider" what they want to do.

Not to mention that another buyer could also have simply bought the item for full price while she was "deciding" even if she was the only offer.

Re: Bidding Process

Your reply to the buyer who didn't get it should include the age-old wisdom, "You snooze, you lose."

Re: Bidding Process

As others have stated--you are fine.  If I recall correctly, when I get an offer on an item it tells me in the verbiage something about being quick before someone else accepts the offer first.

Re: Bidding Process

I can't say that....I believe it, but I still feel bad for the person.  Thank you for your insight.
