Basic ebay store 200 item limit question

Hi all,

my $15.95/month Store has a 200 free item per month limit.  I had assumed I could list 200 items each month.  This is my 2nd month, and I just noticed that the GTC listings that didn't sell and are starting over are counting towards my 200 this month.

example:  I had used 101 new listings so far in March when I went to bed.  Two GTC items ended and started a new month.  This morning it is showing 103 listings used this month.

if this is the case, I cannot list any new listings because I already have over 100 items that will end and start over in March if they don't sell.

So so my subscription isn't for 200 listings per month, it's for only 200 at any given time n my Store?

The options for listing duration are the same for all sellers whether you have a Store or not. A "Good until canceled" listing is basically a 30-day listing that will roll over automatically if not sold out.

You get 200 free fixed price insertions per month. When a GTC listing rolls over every 30 days, it will use one of them.

If you go over the allotted 200 free insertions, you can still list more items but you'll have to pay for the insertion fees.  You also get 100 free insertions that can be used for auction-format listings in about 15 specific "fashion" and "collectibles" categories.

yes, store is for 200 listings per month.............GTC listings renew every 30 days..........so each renewal GTC will be taken off the 200.........

So so my subscription isn't for 200 listings per month, it's for only 200 at any given time n my Store?

No, not really.........it's for 200 listings listed per month......i.e. you could listed 200 items on the 30th of the month, list another 200 on the lst of the month for 30 days and end up with 400 listings at a given time......

Remember you also have 50 free auctions which, using the price you want as a start price, can be listed........just check categories to be sure they will be free...........

 oops..........50=100 auctions

Ok thanks for replays.  My problem right now is that I have around 140 items in my Store.  Have used over 100 listings already the first five days of March.  So depending on how many sell before the end of March, I really can't list anything until I sell something, because there's already more things in my Store that can potentially renew than I have available spots for.

I'll def have to start running more of the 100 free auctions, maybe for 10 days, at the starting price of what I'd sell for in my Store.

You can list as many items in your store as you want  (unless you also have listing limits).

But if you use up your 200 free insertions, you'll pay 20 cents per insertion.  If you don't choose to go past the 200 fixed price listings, then one option would be to end your GTC listings before they roll over, so they don't use up one of your free insrtions for March.

You can list as many items as you want.  You just have to pay the 20 cent listing fee after the first 200.   Also, you could upgrade your store to the Premium level, and get 500 free listings.  Since that would be worth $60, the difference in price would be worth it, as long as you have that many items to list.

You need some flexibility so you can control when and if a listing is renewed.  Best bet is to CANCEL any stale GTC's before they renew and park them in Unsold for awhile.  In fact, unless you want a sales history for multi-quantity items (or variations), don't even bother with GTC's.  Just go with plain 30-day listings. Then you can freshen up your inventory, vary the combinations and target specific audiences.

In other words, be selective.  Keep some "temporarily retired" listings in reserve for a promo special -- in case one comes along.

Also remember that a variety of start/end times will attract buyers in different time zones, including international. Make use of the full 24-hour day.  Catch the early risers on the East Coast who want to get in a little buying before they head out for work.  Snag the West Coast night owls and the folks in Hawaii who are just finishing dinner and settling in to a quiet evening at home.  Present some fresh inventory so that buyers in the UK or Switzerland get first crack at it.

Best solution is not to use GTC listings.    GTC listings don't sell any better than items relisted every two months or so.   I balance my store listings between new listings and relists, and when I run out of the 200 fixed price listings  - I might use some of the auctions.

This way when there is a free listing promo I usually have plenty of relists available to use.

You can list 1 item on a 3 day auction 10 times in a month. If the item doesn't sell, this would be 10 off of your free listing limit. The amount of items is not what is counted, It is the amount of listings. On the other hand, If you have 5000 of one item and only use one listing for them by entering 5000 on quantity, you only used 1 of your free listings, even if all 5000 sell in one month. Hope this helps.

@mtesell*com

1.  You are responding to a thread from MARCH 2016.

2.  There is a $1 listing upgrade fee very time a seller lists an auction-format listing with a duration of 1 or 3 days.  Setting up ten 3-day auctions would cost the seller $10 in addition to using up 10 of his monthly free insertions.
