Bad bug with offers

I have an item listed and received one offer for less than my minimum. I countered but never heard anything. I never got any notifications about other offers so I thought there weren't any. I then go into the "manager offers" page and there were 6 offers over my minimum but I never got any notifications and they expired! I missed selling the item. If you view the item it shows 2 offers but there were a bunch. I called eBay support and spent a lot of time explaining and supposedly a case was logged but I've heard nothing. Now I don't trust that I'll get any notifications. I haven't changed any of the notification defaults which are all checked (in Communication). Someone I know who sells said she had a similar problem and missed a sale because of it. Anyone else seeing these problems? I can't list anything else if I have to go in multiple times a day to see if there's an offer.

Re: Bad bug with offers

Do you ever send offers to watchers?  If so, you may be seeing some of those that expired.

@mehorseface

I'm with @fern*wood. I think you're seeing offers sent to users that weren't accepted. It's all good...

@mehorseface

You wouldn't receive notifications on Offers that you  sent. Are you saying you've never  sent Offers?

I've not encountered (or heard of) this issue... but if it exists, it needs addressing. Have you sent Offers? Do you see those?

I've seen this issue posted so many times here, and in every case ^^^ this was the answer. The OP sent offers to watchers and that's what they were seeing.

Re: Bad bug with offers

You say you have a minimum set for Make an Offer.
If they've offered LESS than your minimum you will not receive a notice.

Re: Bad bug with offers

The minimum was $350 and there were a bunch of offers at $385. To everyone - I only countered one offer! I never saw the other ones.

We're not talking about countering offers or offers initiated by buyers. We are talking about seller-initiated offers.

Can you check if the offers are all for the same amount and all sent on the same date? If so that would be a dead-giveaway that you sent out a seller initiated offer to your watchers.

Re: Bad bug with offers

Consider setting parameters on your Best Offers.

Much less work and you don't miss anything.

EG - You have an item listed for $100, but you would accept $90. You would not accept anything under $85.

Set the Acceptable at $90 and the Not Acceptable at $85.

Better - set the Acceptable at $91.65 - I find that most Offers are either round numbers ($90) or decimalized ($95) or $99.99. So you are likely to get a Best Offer higher than your Acceptable number.

The Not Acceptable offer gets a boilerplate polite refusal from eBay. You never see it.

You only deal with Offers between $85.01 and $89.99, but you can have just a penny difference between Acceptable and Not Acceptable.

You only see the Offer when you see the Sale at $90.

Shipping is not part of Offers.

Re: Bad bug with offers

Item was listed at $450. Offer minimum is $350. The only offer I saw was the one at the top. Are the other legit or just some kind of spam? They all have the same message as seen at the bottom but they look like they came from different accounts. Why was the only offer below the minimum? Why no notifications of the other?

Re: Bad bug with offers

That is a seller-initiated offer that you sent to buyers @mehorseface. None of the buyers responded so all of the offers expired. That's why they're all the same price and have the message you typed in to the offer: "Please let me know if you are interested in the flute at a lower price. Thanks"

You sent the offer on May 19th, about a month ago. You offered to sell for $385 and none of the watchers that received the offer accepted or countered, so there was nothing for you to counter or reject.

The offer was sent by you to 5 different watchers / interested shoppers.

You can read more about the process here.

Re: Bad bug with offers

I only countered one offer. I might have initiated a single offer. I did not initiate all those offers. I didn't even have that many people watching. There was only one person watching that I could initiate an offer to. I have a friend you has a store and gave me the ins and outs before I ever listed.

Yes, you initiated one single offer and it went out to 5 interested parties. eBay sends to watchers, shoppers that added the item to their cart and shoppers that have clicked on the listing multiple times (I think it's 3 times).
