You dont have to wait that long. You can cancel after 4 full days from the time when the listing ended.
If you relist get rid of the Make Offer and use the Immediate Payment Required option.

Very glad you saw thru these scam attempts. As you started over with a new account, the scammers often target new sellers, trying to prey on their inexperience. Even tho this is a common scam, it was good of you to want to warn fellow sellers. It makes me sick when i read about these scam efforts being successful. We hear it on a daily basis in the forums.

@chrislud_20 Yes, the scams have increased a lot. Don't forget that you can add that buyer to your Blocked Buyer List. You can also report them to ebay for trying to get something other than what was in your listing. It is aggravating that they can waste your time like this. It's a good thing you're smart!

The "text me" scammers never pay. Unfortunately, you often don't know until you "accept" the offer that you have one. At least when they use the proper best offer feature (instead of just sending a message) you can report them on the eBay site. If you report them, eBay may cancel their account sooner than the 5 days you are going to wait for the "cancel due to non-payment" choice appears.
You can add the ID to your blocked bidder list, but chances are really good that they will get a new ID and keep on with the scam. As a new seller you are going to be a target for all sorts of nefarious activities designed to separate you from your money and product. Read here, educate yourself, and be thankful you did not fall for this.

The Scam Artists have many names, they change names and always got 100% positive feedback.😉

One flag no one had mentioned is when a buyer ask question after making offer. Typically the question should be asked prior making a bid or offer, in order to clear any doubts.

This is what you do:
Report the buyer https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/resolving-buyer-issues/reporting-issue-buyer?id=4084 Use the reason "asking to complete a sale off eBay". This only works if they have made a purchase. If they have not yet purchased, scroll to the bottom of that page and use the "contact us" button on the left to contact eBay support. When the chat box pops up, click 'See more' the "request an agent". This bypasses the chat bot and gets you a real person. You also have the option of requesting a call back.
Add the buyer to your blocked bidder list: https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock Ignore any further messages from them.
If they actually purchased, cancel the sale immediately using "problem with buyer's address". You can do that here: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/cancelling-transaction?id=4136 You don't have to let the unpaid item process play out - scammers don't care if they get unpaid item strikes. If one account gets soiled, they just move to another one of many.

I have always found it frustrating that eBay can expend so many resources on monitoring and scanning seller activities but do little when it comes to the buyer. If a seller was to get suspended they would be hard pressed to simply create a new account and keep on listing. Scammers seem to have no problem.

They were wrong to request outside contact so effectively asked you to cancel it as far as I'm concerned. If that's wrong so be it, this is a time when two wrongs make it right. Cancel it, relist and move on....that's what i do I don't care what the policy is. You should have the right here to operate under the assumption that there's no scammers and are effectively dealt with. It's Ebays responsibility to deal with the scum.
