Are we better off since PayPal split off from eBay?

Frankly, I don't see any difference. I got payments right away with paypal but I also get funds regularly with MP.  I have it set up to daily so there are usually funds clearing and depositing on a steady basis.

I like it better, no more having to transfer funds to my checking account from Pay Pal.

Have a great day.

Do you like the delay of your funds being available?

It's more convenient to have everything contained on the seller hub without having to sign in to another site.  I have never seen listings about any errors in deposits or money lost in the transfer process.   That's the only thing that would be a no go for me.

That's true, I always had to transfer from PayPal as money mounted up to my bank account, However I loved the fact it was available immediately. The change did have one glitch it took eBay almost 2 months to set me up, No Kidding, I actually put my listing on vacation till it started working. And over a dozen contacts with eBay, I thought they would never get'er gone.

Yes, actually.  I couldn't opt in fast enough when they started offering payouts Weekly instead of daily.  Tempted to bump it up to Monthly.

I'm old school!

PayPal worked. One source. Not what seems like a dozen plus payment options now.

PayPal verified buyers and would tell a seller when to ship if the buyer was still being verified either because they were a new member or possibly their payment source. eBay now's allows guest buyers with no verification.

If a buyer opened a claim when eBay & PayPal was working, a seller's response on the issue was actually read (I believe). Now it's AI / bots. A cheating buyer can now take a second course of action claiming to their C.C. provider they don't recognize the transaction.

As far as your funds being delayed by PayPal, that was never an issue. Ebay does the same if not longer now. Trickles the payout, but you can pay extra to get your funds faster. Really? Pay an extra fee to get my money?

I also advise all sellers not to tie your personal bank account to eBay payouts. Create a separate account with your bank for eBay.

Thank You, you also have to do a new Accounting Method.

That's also what they're trying to do with Buyer Requirements, slowly sneak everyone into direct access of their Bank accounts, and I ain't doing it.

Accounting method?

you're protecting yourself and your funds.

Say I buy a $1,000 item from you and use a C.C. You get your funds in your Personal banking account that you use to pay your bills and shop.

I then file a claim. Now your funds are probably put on hold while you have probably sent checks out or used your bank debit card shopping for groceries / gas / restaurant, and so on.

What does that equate to? NSF fees

Not sure I understand your point. The two main accounting methods are cash vs accrual. How would that change?

As for the 'delay' in getting my funds, it's weekly. My 'real job' is every TWO weeks. so eBay is better.

Many quite successful businesses wait even longer for payment, 30 days and up is not uncommon.

I guess if you really need the money, time matters. But if you are that strapped for cashflow, then perhaps the business model needs a tweak.

And another note: Correct me if I'm mistaken but once eBay gets your money now it travels down a Black Hole never to be seen again, they give you a credit not a refund, on your next sell/purchase something like that, I believe when I got refunds thru PayPal the money was back in your PayPal account.

I guess the real question is, if they can get my money instantly, why can't I also receive it instantly, last time I checked we are in the 21th Century.

Think of it this way:

eBay, and for example your grocery store, does not get their money instantly either.   The payment source is verified at time of payment.  But the grocery store physically does not 'have your money' yet.   Yet they let you walk out of the store with groceries.  It takes days or weeks for the grocery store to actually 'get your money' too.

You want instant money from sales?  Garage/Yard sale and accept cash only.

Want to run an online business?  Welcome to the 21st Century, aka the modern real world of business and finance.  Not that hard to learn, just need to stop thinking 'cash'.
