Are eBay Promoted Listings Worth It?

I sell collectible items as well as a mix of others that come my way. Some of  my items sell as promoted, while others don't sell as promoted.  Promotions sometimes double the FVF. 

I currently don't have a store but consider subscribing to maybe a starter level. 

I was wondering if promoting your listings is worth it.  Thoughts?

If your buyer clicked on a promoted listing and then buys it within 30 days, you will pay the promoted listing fee even though you canceled the promotion before the buyer paid.

Hi I've noticed when I don't click on promote my listing

 My item doesn't even get 5 views. That's ridiculous. I sell Disney items and those are very popular. I used to get many views but ever since promoted listing became an option all of a sudden I don't have views.also one time I noticed no one was viewing so I paid for promoted listing and it only gave me 2 more views. I think it's a scam.

Since I went to promoted listings I have  a lot of hits but 1 order has cancelled for a silly reason and another wants to return a print for a defect but  I inspected and photoed the print before I sent and it was in mint condition.  Ebay took almost $200 in fees plus the shipping that I don't know if I'll get back.  I think it attracts cheats.

If you would’ve accepted he return and provided he buyer with return shipping label you would’ve gotten your fees back.

Correct. For these oversaturated categories is it important to promote.

Good Job! They do tend to get more hits and attention. People need to experiment with it and then see if it works for them as well.

I see 3 days later the same item was sold for a lower price but the seller has no profile or history of listing that item.  How could an item be sold that was never listed except from promoted listings.

It's 2024, and this post was made in 2022. Since than ebay as a whole, and promoted listing has gotten very bad. No matter you do, sells are bad on ebay. Than you will have those who ebay reward or pay to say sells are good lying for ebay. It's so bad selling on ebay, that ebay will tell sellers to also sell their items on other websites to get sells. Ebay is the only website that does that, because they know selling on ebay is bad. For ebay to make money, they charge sellers high fees, for every little thing they can charge a seller.  Ebay brag how they charge sellers high fees, and joke how sellers keep falling for ebay selling fees tricks.
