It appears that shortly it will be possible to leave 5 pictures when you leave feedback.

feedback.jpg

Buyers, of course, can already leave negative feedback for a seller. The pictures can simply reinforce that negativity,

BUT we all know that sellers can not leave negative feedback for a buyer so they try positive feedback with a negative comment. Usually does not work out well for the seller. Judging by the posts on these boards there are certainly buyers who various sellers believe deserve negative feedback. Scams, fraudulent returns, repeated bidders who never pay, etc. You know the ones.

The cynic in me says that there are those who will try to use the pictures to make a negative point. An upside down flag for example, a universal sign of distress. Picture of an empty box suggesting that is what the return turned into. A frowning emoji. Well you get the idea.

Going to be fun to watch. I wonder how many sellers will put their foot in it. 'Cause I've got to figure eBay will be monitoring it.

When a buyer opens a return now, in some (I guess rolling out) instances they are required to upload photo proof of claim,

--------------------------------------------------------

and that process seems to be just another big eBay  joke.

It does not seem to matter what "photo" the buyer uses when required to add one.  They can just add any photo. Just recently read a thread where the buyer added the photo that a photo that the seller had in the listing. Photo had nothing to do with the return reason.

Yep. Remember when some dude uploaded a photo of dead ducks - posted on this forum when the photo requirement was first being tested?

Boy I disagree with that.  I like this requirement and I look forward to it going site wide.

True as long as the add a photo they comply.  So it may be a pic of their cat or dog if they so want.  But then we can report the buyer for misuse of the claims system.  And I would highly recommend doing that.

But most probably would not do that.  And there will always be both buyers and sellers that look for ways to get around most any rule.

However it could go like this too.  I had a buyer tell me they needed to have an item returned because it was damaged in shipment.  When I get complaints like this I always ask for a pic, but as we all know, I can't force them to do that.  The buyer did not want to send one, so I told them to open a Request for Return.  But I never heard from them again nor did they file for a return.

It does remain to be seen if Ebay will do anything about someone that does post a pic that directly contradicts what they have said when opening a claim.  IDK if they will do anything, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.  Even with the pics added to FB, that could complicate the return process for the buyer if those pics contradict what they said in the INAD.

I like it and I look forward to it rolling out to the entire site.

Been waiting over 8 years for a weight variation window to be added to the eBay variation listing tool, but I guess adding photo's to a seller's feedback is more important.  Frill over function once again. Thanks eBay.

A small percentage of people may attach photos, there will be the usual reportable offences such as someone posting a porn photo (it's the internets, after all) and it'll mostly end up being product reviews. But I'm honestly not seeing this as a game changer.

FB posted that is actually a product review can be removed for cause.  If the FB is a mixture of both a product review and the transaction, then if reported Ebay can edit the product review out of the FB.

I question whether eBay is in the process of changing this. They removed product review info from the FB policy pages.

Could still be on their internal pages, but as shown in the screenshot posted upthread, eBay recently (within the past couple months) removed it from the public-facing policy pages.

Yes, I doubt that they will devote any manpower to editing feedback/feedback photos - they may simply either leave the FB up or take it down if the seller complains, but I'm not seeing their having the capacity to actually parse it.

Ebay has been updating policies pages right and left the last year or so.  Seems impossible to try and keep up on all of it since they don't tell us about most of the updates, we must stubble across them ourselves.

On the the link you posted earlier I found the following.  Leaving Feedback

What happens if I leave negative feedback?

Negative feedback becomes a permanent part of a seller's record, and can harm their reputation and their business. If possible, you should try to work with the seller to resolve any transaction issues before you leave negative feedback.

If you do decide to leave negative feedback, make sure it's fair and factual, and relates specifically to the transaction.

Sellers often respond to negative feedback and may get in touch with you to try to resolve the issue.

But you certainly are right, I remember it as saying more about this.

none the less, at the moment it is a "joke".  I understand the purpose, the intent, and agree with it, but as it stands, there seems to be no standards/monitoring/enforcement to back the reasoning behind the policy.

I have not seen the policy yet.  Do you have a link to it?

You are not kidding, my selling feedback is a fraction of what it used to be. I just figure feedback is a thing of the past. This site is going down the river!

I do not. As it seems to be in the test phase (not required in all instances), I would expect that there is no policy on it that eBay is sharing at this time, and as this has strayed from topic of photos in feedback, I am done posting about it.

Me either.  I'm very 'meh' on this.   Every other site under the sun allows uploaded pictures with FB, why shouldn't this one.  I'm not too worried about as it takes extra time & effort to do.
