Anyone else not getting feedback?

I have sold 25 items in the last two months and only 8 have received any feedback (all positive, but still...) Is this just the trend on eBay nowadays? Feedback used to be the best way to keep people in line. Am I just an old fuddy-duddy?

Sorry, but if a buyer is a problem, I find the blocked bidder list to be useful.  That way, no buyer has the chance to be a repeat problem.

And, no, experienced sellers do not want to be sure to give a positive to a buyer who has been a problem.

Are you suggesting that bad behavior be rewarded?

"The only thing that accomplishes is to let the buyer think that the seller thinks the buyer does not deserve a positive feedback."  Ah, there's the old phanoto we all know and love.

I was the buyer so no, I did not get paid...unless you consider actually getting the item in a timely manner that I paid for in the condition it was described as payment...and the seller did leave me feedback for holding up my end of the sale by paying immediately.

I believe Ebay should go back to the rule that a buyer cannot leave negative feedback for the seller without contacting them first. This is only fair to give the seller a chance to make it right. As we all know things can happen in shipping, etc. that a seller cannot control and to leave a neg. feedback without even letting the seller know there was a problem is just not right and benefits nobody!

If you sell coins and bullion....tons of people will not leave feedback....only 1 in 10 leave feedback when it's a rare coin or precious metal purchase....it's for "their security".  I understand it.

Most of my damage claims have been for ceramic items as I buy collectibles.  I open my packages immediately upon arrival.  Many times I know before I even open the box that it's broken because I can hear the pieces rattling around inside.  I take the pictures and send them off to the seller.  It's difficult for a seller to claim that I broke the item when I sent them the picture right after opening the package.  I've had a few  extreme cases where the sellers just didn't want to refund me for broken items.  One item was a diecast model car where the plastic top was cracked.   Another was for a set of vehicle side mirror assemblies, and the last was for a Jukebox radio.  They believed that since their item was in good condition when it was mailed they didn't have to take the return. Two of those sellers are no longer on eBay which doesn't surprise me as I wasn't the only buyer they had problems with. The third seller I actually understood because unfortunately  auto parts sellers frequently have a lot of problems with buyers who  lie  in order to return items.

I don't leave positive feedback for a buyer that attempts to defraud me.  I just don't leave any feedback for them. I still leave positive feedback for buyers that request returns when it's my mistake as they still deserve it. Bad buyers definitely make it to my BB list as I don't want to deal with them again.

No, I don't even reward my best customers.  It would cost too  much to reward them with something they might like.   Some sellers who make a high percent of profit might benefit by giving a reward sometimes - I don't know.

I just do the things that buyers expect, which are the same as eBay recommends.

While I respect your opinion, I do not agree.  Buyers should be able to post negatives whenever they choose.  There are many great sellers, and I am thankful for them.  But in my experience,  precious few sellers have ever responded professionally or resolved an issue through simple contact.  Contact triggered abusive, hostile messages, sometimes profanity laced.  I contact sellers, but almost always a case is needed and I understand why Ebay strongly prefers opening cases, and eBay can handle the issue then.  One such an experience is more than enough for a buyer to forego contacting the seller.  Feedback benefits the buyer by not having to go through all that.  If the seller resolves the issue, there may still be negative feedback.  Resolution doesn't erase the fact that there was a problem or problems.   If something comes broken because of poor packing, that isn't the carrier's fault.

I wish I had bought from you or some of the other sellers on here that are professional and use that opportunity to resolve issues.

I open packages immediately upon arrival and send pictures, too.  I've been accused of damaging an item when you can see it in the listing pictures if you know it is there, even when you point that out.  Many think no returns means just that~the buyer is stuck with it~when that only applies to buyer's remorse, not SNAD.  Yes, frequently you see on this Board posts that say it was in good condition when it left here...but it wasn't when the buyer got it~maybe do to poor packing.  Many require a return in hopes you won't bother returning it.

Yes, auto parts sellers do have problems with returns.

Disappearing feedback is a concern.  It's disregarding something that the buyer felt was important enough to take the time to leave.  You can't judge what isn't there, and so no matter how carefully you vet the seller and the listing, you can still end up with an unsatisfactory transaction through no fault of your own~although many put the blame for any issue on the buyer.  It's always the buyer's fault.

I, too, have had poor transactions of late and have taken a step back.  I know we are not alone.

I guess I never had these bad experiences with giving or receiving feedback. It's a shame, really, that it went that way. Believe me, there was a time when it was used as incentive for people to do the right thing.

You are fortunate in not having had those experiences.  I remember when it was an incentive for people to do the right thing.  I think people were more inclined to do the right thing back then, and if one didn't or wasn't, then the feedback reflected that.  So that was the incentive you mean~to keep your reputation pristine as if you didn't, it was there for all to see.
