Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

I woke up to day checked my messages and found Ebay had opted me into the Guaranteed Delivery Program. I opted out but I am still waiting for the page to refresh. I want nothing to do with it.

It is still showing up on all of my listings.

I believe the proper industry standard for a correction like that is something like...

lie^H^H^H fib (dating back to the days when ASCII was not so standardized and hitting the backspace key often actually printed ^H on the screen instead of actually backspacing.)

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

I don't even see a Guaranteed Delivery preference within my account.

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

There's an active lunacy in this GD program, at least insofar as clicking that "Guaranted 3 Day Delivery" toggle at the top of the page.
Know what shows up? It shows ONLY items that you have to pay EXTRA for to get CARRIER guaranteed delivery....Express Mail or Fedex 2 Day. Extra being about FOUR TIMES the std cost.
All the sellers who use Priority Mail, which typically arrives in 3 days or LESS 99% of the time...don't show up.
WHY ebay...WHY???

That option is being rolled out this month to sellers that have handling times/shipping methods,  that would qualify them to be part of the GD program.

Not all sellers will qualify.  Not all listings will qualify.

You will not see it until you are "rolled in".

At this time eBay is eating the "late" complaints.

Thanks, I hope I never see it. I specifically use 2 day handling to avoid it, even though I ship within 1.

All of my listing went to Guaranteed Delivery and I had 3 day handling.  Just changed them all to 5 to see what would happen -- GD went away.

There are some claims that eBay may go by individual "historical" actual handling time when doing the "opt in" qualifications.

I can not qualify, or debunk the statement.

We may find ourselves eligible even if we think we are notsee_no_evil

I, to date, have not been blessed with GD seller status.

I also have 2-day handling, but ship same/next.

LOL...that will not save you.  It is based on your "shipping behavior" as opposed to your handling time.  Originally, you had to  select immediate payment required...ebay got rid of that requirement, too.   From historic observation,  ebay is not getting enough volunteers for this program, so they are "opting you in" out of the goodness of their heart.

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

Just out of curiosity...why isn't this called Guaranteed Delivery INSURANCE?
The GD is a hollow promise...as even Forrest Gump would point out, they can't control it, so how can they guarantee it?
A rational marketing mind would label it simply..."It's on time, or shipping's on us".
I leave it to others to addressing free shipping in that statement.

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

To add to what others have said about the auto "opt in" and GD overall.

Yes eBay is presently eating the "late delivery" flack from a buyer except for the fact that when there is a failure in the delivery it is not eBay, or the carrier that the buyer is disappointed with. It all fall on the seller that did not produce as expected.

Yes, eBay, for now, will remove feedback related to late delivery complaints, but they are not going to remove the disappointment from the buyer's mind when they are ready to buy again.

Just not enough incentive in the program for me to participate. May be a bonus for some, but I am fortunate to not be dependent upon eBay sales revenue.

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

One more rant...I use Priority Mail, 1-day handling, and FREE shipping with lots of my items.
Once clicked on, those say "Fast 'n' FREE"...and then show 3-day delivery or LESS.
I've earned my stripes over 20 years on here...why can't ebay salute SELLERS instead of themselves?

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

I received an email yesterday stating to opt in click here well I did NOT click and guess what, today I see a small banner on my Seller Hub Page stating I had Guaranteed Delivery...hmmmmmmm I think not!

I have a 3 day handling so I am still expected to get that package there in 2 days? hahaha  I went and opted out.  I do not like being opted in for something I do not want.

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

I saw a message above seller hub regarding Guaranteed Delivery showing a box to check for opt out. So I checked it. I checked the opt out box thinking it would Guarantee I wouldn't be opted in! Nope, 2 days later I receive an email stating I'd been automatically opted in to the program. I guess the only thing ebay can guarantee is trying to force sellers into this awful program. I've gone in and opted out again.

I'm not about to be the brunt of a buyer being upset when these guarantee promises aren't fulfilled. I don't want to deal with back n forth messages nor undeserved feedback. Selling here is stressful enough! It's pretty nervy of ebay to opt a seller back in when they already opted out.

Re: Anyone else just get opted in to the guaranteed delivery program?

We all know ebay is trying to emulate Amazon with this program. However, Amazon owns it's own planes and uses it's own force to deliver many packages, they hire drivers who retrieve packages from a hub and deliver from there. They can control delivery much more this way than using other carriers.
