This has been my slowest week and I have been posting my store on facebook all week trying to get a bite. Anyone else having a slow week? Any tips on getting people to your page? Thank you.

Really sorry - I was right there with ya for about 3 weeks. Like a light turned off in the hallway where my store was. Really wish there was a solution for us as Sellers as it seems tied to all the changes - I still think it is tied to the flood gates of all the free listings the stores received. En masse, so to speak.
I made so many changes trying to get the rhythm back - so honestly, clueless as to why it did. Likely nothing I did changed anything, but at the time, it made me feel better, like I was doing something.
I am worried I will not get all our listings updated before our Christmas in July sale and that sale will be a dud. It is our mid-year boost to sales. I actually look forward to it. E-bay is such a search abyss, likely won't matter anyway if I get them done, but don't want the listings *dark* in search.
It sounds redundant to say "Hang in there", but meant with sincerity. Happy for those not affected, but for those of us who have been/are, it is "real" and it is impactful, but not in a good way. We all have bills to pay and aren't here for the free virtual cookies at the podcast water cooler.

@2blondeswans wrote:I do it anyways. It gives them comfort and it gives me comfort. Ever sincevI put that on that specific listing I have not had 1 spammed. Also not sure why a couple of you are basically attacking that certain post when I havevover a thousand listings. There is nothing wrong with covering my butt. I have lost lots of money beforevI started doing that. I also have those pictures taken with the shipping label and film it. There are a lot of scammersvout there who take advantage of small time sellers. Also yes, Ebay will look over the conversations along with tje pictures sent and Yes Ebay will take care of you. Haveva good day
You said you wanted people to look at your listings. I simply looked at the first one that came up when I clicked on your listings. If it's atypical, I;m happy to hear it.

Same. My sales have consistently been slow from May through September for years. People are out enjoying the weather instead of sitting around on their computer shopping, they're spending their money on vacations, etc. September through about mid-April are my strongest months and then my sales taper down over the summer.
September-December are people buying Christmas gifts, January-February are people spending their Christmas money on themselves, and then March-April are people splurging with their tax refunds.

I never asked anyone to look at my listings. I asked if anyone else was having a slow week and for tips. I appreciate constructive criticism but do not enjoy having someone say things like , I'm clueless how long you survived on here, or having someone copy and paste only parts of my description and talk bad about it. There is nothing constructive about that. I'm not looking to argue on here. I got my answer, and I posted who gave a great solution. Wish I could have given 2 great solutions out. Have a good evening

It's been TERRIBLE!!! I haven't sold a single thing as of yet today! If I don't, this will be the first day in years that i've gone without at least one sale.

I hope it gets better for you also. I looked over your stuff. You have a lot. Those vampire earrings are cool.

Thank you. Very helpful insight..
May was definitely my best month. I have been a member for a long time but just started selling this year. I had a Store, a really cool 2 story place on a corner lot in Edmond downtown but I had to close it due to Covid, wasn't essential. Was never able to open back up. Ebay has been very helpful. I'm still learning.

Went to see what kind of movies you have for sale......you have car parts and rifle parts.....did not see any movies. A former life kinda thing?
The day is not yet over. Hopefully a buyer is soon in your future.

@maxine*j wrote:Well, you wanted me to go to a listing of yours, so I did. I am completely confused by it.
What the heck am I getting if I order from you? There is no picture of it, evidently. I see "example boxes" filled with dozens and dozens of pieces, but all I'm getting is (per the description) "give or take around 20 pieces" of your choice. Besides the "example boxes," there two other pictures of yet different boxes, each filled with scores of plastic bags full of jewellery, but I'm getting only "give or take around 20 pieces" of your choice.
You say in your listings that you protect yourself against scammers, but what protects me in a situatiin like this, where it isn't even clear what you're going to send me, or how it relates -- if it does -- in any way to any of the pictures in the listing?
The Item Specifics says I'm getting: "Anklets, Bangle, Bracelet, Brooch, Charm Bracelet, Earrings, Hair & Head, Necklace, Pendant/Charm, Pin, Ring, Toe Ring, Watch, Wristband" in the colors of "Beige, Black, Blue, Brown, Gold, Gray, Green, Ivory, Multi-Color, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Silver, White." But the description says I'm getting "give or take 20 pieces" of whatever you decide to send me.
Gosh!

@maxine*j That's pretty typical for a jewellery grab box - I buy those myself. In fact, that's a better presentation than I usually see. For the price one charges for each one of those, a seller isn't going to describe each piece. You kinda get what you get - they're totally not to everyone's taste, but I'm a gambler lol.

Yes,It feels like the bottom dropped out. Some consolation that I am not alone.
What I am doing is listing more products so when it picks up I will hopefully make up for it.
In any case it keeps me busy (1 Person Business).Oh and I don't have to worry about laying someone off!

@chapeau-noir Okay. And I understand not getting a photo of each piece in a big lot. But 20 pieces is not a big lot of costume jerwellery, surely, so why not just lay out those few pieces and take a photo? Why show multiple photos of different, large lots, with scores or hundreds of pieces in each, when one is selling a small lot of 20 pieces, not necessarily "grabbed" from any of the stuff pictured? And even if one is buying a big lot, with too many pieces to photograph or describe individually, why not a picture of the actual lot in a heap or in its shipping box?
I think it's asking for trouble with buyers to do otherwise, and you and I both know that all the photos in the world of a seller packing up items will make not one iota of difference in any claim. I can take a picture of anything, but that does not prove I sent it or you got it.
I guess I was also taken aback to see that "scammers" are such a big problem in the grab-bag costume jewellery trade that they need to be referenced prominently in a seller's TOS.

LOL - they aren't - I have no idea where people get the idea that somehow making a video of anything is going to help but I guess if it makes them feel better, then whatever. I see it on Posh a lot, too.
The jewellery boxes I've purchased don't even have pictures - just the box. A box gets loaded up from a larger storage receptacle of jewellery (or scarves, or tops, or whatever) until the weight tops out, or the box is full, or whatever. I've done boxes where each piece is in a little plastic bag (they're usually higher dollar) and others where you get warned "10 lb of jewellery, findings, repairs, etc." for a price not much lower than the OP is offering - that's dumped in a bag and is a rainy afternoon's work untangling. Similar with clothing and accessories grab boxes. The very cheap price per piece makes it untenable for any seller to bother with photos, it's pick and pack and take the gamble. @maxine*j

I don't have the time to personally create box after box after box with thousands of pieces. I do however have some pre-mades listed. If you could look past just that 1 post you would have seen that. Yes scammers are That Big a deal. Ever since I started doing that it has definitely not been an issue since. It Wings out the scammers. I also do free returns. So if the buyer didn't like their pieces they could return for free or exchange. They even have the option to say that before I ship out, with the pictures I send them. I also feel 20 pieces or so for $25 to $35 is a great deal, especially when it costs $9 to ship the box, I ship same day and priority. Most jewelry single pieces cost $5 to $20 or so a piece. It's a great deal for serious buyers.

@maxine*j That reminds me of when I was a kid in the olden days, in the backs of various 'women's magazines' there'd be ads for dresses - you could get say 5 dresses of one size for some low low price, but you had to take what they had, and they only had a few samples shown. The styles were vaguely broken down into 'young misses' (later called 'juniors'), misses, 'mature', half sizes, etc. The more dresses you purchased in a lot, the cheaper they were per piece. Thing is, you never knew what was going to show up on your doorstep. But...the price was right. For people without much money (i.e., me), it was worth a try if you couldn't round up any used clothing or got too old for hand-me-downs. I suspect they were over-runs, overages, shelf-pulls, returns, etc. just like nowadays.

My sales are way off, been that way two weeks now.
Whilst items come up in searches my items do not come up in browsing. ALOT of people browse at eBay.
It "is not" that way all over, seasonal, that **bleep**. I just returned from a friend who owns a small sort of flea market store who told me his sales are up at various places and way way down here at Ebay. Told me, "It like someone just flipped a switch and sales came to a near halt." He also owns some shares of eBay and said that sales from what he's heard from friends of his have tanked for so many he's considering contacting some online financial operations because shareholders are going to get screwed he fears.
Told me his sales are up everyplace he sells and were doing just fine here then BAM, dead.
