Anyone else getting these messages from ebay?

This is NOT the same issue that we asked about a few weeks ago.

20 years selling on ebay. 15 years same address, same phone, same email. Always got 1099s from Paypal then ebay. No problem.

Suddenly, get two screaming messages titled:

“You need to update your account details by Jan 23, 2023 on file in order to avoid any issues with payouts in the future. Update account details”

We never had any payout issues.

“Let's get you back on track. We need to verify your eBay account's phone and email.”

Huh? If we were off track we didn’t know it.

And then:

Let's get you back on track (again)

To pass verification, you'll need one of these documents for the primary contact on your account.

•            Driver License
•            Passport
•            Government issued ID card

Messages are through/on the ebay page with a big red banner at the top. This isn’t a big deal at all. But why is it written this way? I’m concerned that someone tried to hack the account but everything seems okay. We even requested an immediate payout and it seemed to go through.

When I couldn't submit my info, I contacted an Agent 10/27 via chat and was told that everything looks good.

Here is what I got: I have checked the document that you have uploaded and I do see that the details are matching so no need to worry now as I have raised this issue with the relevant team and they will review your account on high priority.

It can take up to 72 hours.

But it's been 4 days already and I still have this red banner

This is what the phone people tell you when they want to get you off the phone. Try contacting the eBay for Business team on Facebook/Twitter. Send them a message  with your contact info and the problem. They are usually fairly fast to respond.

Yes, we have received these same messages. eBay is requesting a copy of my employee's personal information, i.e. driver's license. I refused to send it, as we are a corporation. Told them I would submit our corporation's EIN, but eBay made the decision to hold all of our payouts. I refuse to sell items and not get paid for them, so we placed our store in vacation mode until this gets resolved. As far as I know, the 4th amendment to the US Constitution is still in effect, so this is an unlawful search and seizure.

So I got this fixed, the red banner was there 1 week until I figured out what the issue is.  To fix this, I'm sure most of you like myself had Landline up and no cell phone.  eBay's bots don't know how to verify a land line, so you would need to put your cell phone and remove the land line.  Go to your personal information, delete the current phone number, choose Mobile, input your cell phone number and reply with the verification code.  Like magic the red banner is gone

Why is eBay so gung-ho to enforce a so-called "law" that has not even been passed?

According to the congressional website this bill, the INFORM Consumers Act was INTRODUCED in March of 2021 but has not passed in the Senate or the House.   See the tracker in the overview here:

I'm getting messages to update my banking information and then it asks me to sign into my bank. I haven't done it but it says they will hold my payouts until I do.  Concerned this isn't officially from ebay.

This whole colour copy of your licence front AND back (back being the governments security measure), is a major hack attack just waiting to happen!!

I just sell elsewhere these days, and no fees either!

The whole momentum to force everything onto a DOS-level platform is angering me greatly.  Stalin and Hitler could only dream of this totalitarian effort.
