I've been getting these more often, and each time leads to a negative, complicated experience. The last time this happened the buyer told me to wait to ship as they were considering further purchases, and failed to notify me (or purchase anything else) for four days. When I messaged them to ask if they still wanted me to ship, they went off on a two-paragraph tirade. Luckily the item arrived in good condition and they left me alone after they received it.
Recently I made another sale and in the order notes, buyer asks me to send multiple quantities of an item I only have two of (which they already bought). Wary, I go to check their feedback and they've left two negatives out of 20 feedback total. Negative comments in positive feedback to. Apparently this buyer seems to experience a lot of items damaged in shipping.
What really irks me about this is - why not message a seller BEFORE you pay for something to make sure they can fulfill a request? Instead these people bind you to a transaction then ask for things you may not be able to do for them. Then, inevitably, they jerk you around with the threat of poor feedback.
This particular selling account is literally the only one I have that does well, so if I don't refund I won't sell. I don't know if it's the holidays or what but buyers have been such a headache lately.

For me this time of the year is the worst as far as buyer requests/demands are concerned...... the reason some sellers stop shipping 12/1 or soon thereafter. Ones that stay just have to roll with the punches....

Forced IPR is what causes a lot of this, buyers who have been on eBay for a few years are used to being able to buy but not pay right away, now they are "forced" into paying immediately. They could add to the cart but that won't ensure they still "own" the item in the time it would take to ASQ, get a reply then add other items to the cart and then pay.
Net result...they click the buy button.
Keep in mind that few buyers have any idea they may be causing sellers an issue by their actions, they don't know about additional fees or shipping time metrics, plenty of sellers don't even know this stuff.

The transaction is a contract that obligates the two parties - as in your comment about binding a transaction. A contact can't be changed after the fact.
Do buyers think these are some sort of over the backyard fence agreements where terms can be discussed immediately? If that were the case you should therefore be able to cancel your invoice and reissue it at double the selling price.

Don't worry too much about this. If a buyer requests something after the sale that was not a part of the original transaction then you can tell them so and then call Ebay and see if you can cancel the sale, withut a defect, ONLY IF, the buyer persists in asking you to do something that was not in the original agreement from the listing.

Correct on the CONTRACT cannot be changed once the buyer hits the buy it now and pays.. The buyers responsibility is to read ALL the terms of the listing and agree to them. A request that was not a part of the original transaction is not part of that contract.
