Just curious if anyone can answer the question on why movie press photos, etc. movie memorabilia seems to have a small market? I just searched on vintage pressbooks & found they sell cheap; if they sell at all. Also see movie still press photos are a tough sell. Why is that? I must have 1000 of them but do not feel motivated to post them for sale at all. I have MANY with A-list stars. To me, it seems no one really cares. Thanks for your assistance!

Refreshing this to see if I get comments. 🙂 Maybe I should throw in an insult about eBay to get attention to the question? LOL

Short answer? Like Hummels, Collector Plates, Precious moments, and many other collectibles
that once had value and people that were interested, I'd imagine that movie items and photos have little interest
to younger people.
Many once viable collector items have lost value due to lost interest.

Movie memorabilia has a large market base but has been declining on eBay over the years. You need to sell the old photos, those 1920's-1950's glamour shots, candid photos, horror and sci-fi, pin-up shots etc. Newer press-kit photos (1970's and up) are a dime a dozen and will sit and collect dust. There just isn't much of a market for standard press-kit photos. The old Hollywood money shots sell well.
I've been selling Movie Memorabilia on eBay since 2006. I focus on Marilyn Monroe, Sharon Tate, Steve McQueen (car related photos) early Universal horror photos, 1930's-1950's pin-up shots of actresses doing their patriotic duty by posing in swimsuits for the service men in during WWII etc.
I've sold complete press-kits but don't even bother with trying to sell press-kit photos individually.

They don't have a small market, there is simply a HUGE supply of them. They are mass produced - they are a form of advertising after all!

The same goes for music press photos. I have thousands of them and they are slow movers at low prices.

Because the majority of the online consumers don’t care about that stuff.

Perhaps you have unrealistic expectations?
For one thing, the more "a-list" the more were made.
