I've been listing and my shipping charges are incorrect. For example:

Entered

Wt 7lbs 6 oz

80 x 8 x 8

Notice the Priority line below.

That must be some sort of error, right?

If 80" is a correct measurement, you have an oversized package and an increased shipping cost.

I suspect you have a typo in your measurements.

An 80x8x8 package is 5,120 cu. inches and is subject to USPS surcharges because it's over 1 cu. ft. (1728 cu").

So the calculation is correct.

https://faq.usps.com/s/article/What-are-the-Different-Ways-Parcels-are-Priced

Dimensional Weight Price

The dimensional weight price may be applied to parcels of the mail classes listed below, but use and calculation of that price differs based on those mail classes.

  • Dimensional Weight Price for Low-Density Parcels to Zones 1-9 - For the domestic mail classes listed below, postage for parcels addressed for delivery to Zones 1-9 and that exceed one cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches) is based on either the actual weight or the calculated dimensional weight, whichever is greater. The dimensional weight price may apply to:
    • Priority Mail Express® parcels
    • Priority Mail® parcels
    • USPS Ground Advantage™ (excludes Limited Overland Routes parcels) parcels
    • Parcel Select® (excludes Parcel Select Lightweight®) parcels
    • Note: If the dimensional weight exceeds 70 pounds, postage is the 70-pound price
  • Dimensional Weight Price for Global Express Guaranteed® - The prices for items not mailed in USPS-produced GXG envelopes are based on the calculated dimensional weight or the actual weight, whichever is greater.

Use the Postage Price Calculator to determine the price of a specific item or see Notice 123 for a comprehensive list of prices.

And to be specific- the charges for ground advantage are normal cost for this size but Ebay offers Priority option for this size package $ 11.15-$25.45.

So I'm guessing the Priority price is some kind of glitch with Ebay? Would that be a reasonable assumption?

Yes, the amount for priority mail is not correct.

Yes ma'am I believe Ground is correct. My question is based on the choices ebay gave me in the first screenshot how could Priority be only $11.15-$25.45 when Priority is the more costly service? So I'm asking if this can safely be assumed to be a glitch?

I calculated the shipping for an 8 lb. package with the measurements you stated going from Boston to LA (coast to coast) and this is the finding.

I can't even find the option to choose priority mail for a package of this size.

Yeah....I'd say eBay has a glitch in their USPS Priority quote.
Typical....

I think it must be a glitch. if you choose that option, I think you'll be hit with a huge APV adjustment!

The package is too big to go priority mail. "The maximum size for Priority Mail items is 108 inches in combined length and girth (the length of the longest side, plus the distance around its thickest part)." The size must be confusing the calculator, maybe it's calculating it as 8 x 8 x 8?

Thank you all for taking time to answer.

I certainly would have a large extra charge. I wonder if Ebay would have paid since that is their mistake?

By the way all 7 things I listed today (this account and a 2 nd account) have had screwy shipping things appear.

Again, thank you all for your time and efforts
