Any way to get rid of the "Best Offer" button eBay is forcing on my listings?

I have a couple items (listed under my seller ID) that are BIN (only; no auction price). No matter how I try to revise the listing, when it is listed, it also has a "Best Offer" button. I don't want to get Best Offers -- buy it at the BIN price or don't buy it. Is there any way to get rid of that, or is it eBay policy now to force sellers to entertain offers? Sorry if this is a question that has been asked before, but I haven't sold on eBay in a while, so maybe I missed the news. Thank you for your help.

That's odd. I don't experience this with my listings, even when I create a new Fixed Price listing from scratch, the MAKE OFFER is not the default.

@finchpeep Do you see a link in the upper right corner of your listing page that allows you to switch from quick tool to advanced tool? If so, switch to advanced and try again.

Edit: @city*satins this has been going around - bunch of threads on it. Seems with one of the quick tools it is defaulting to best offer and causing a lot of problems for sellers. And some don't have the ability to switch out of that tool. I think these are the same users that will be opted into GTC listings as noted in the UA update.

OP- If you are unable to switch to the advanced tool, try creating a new listing and see if the form will allow you to switch.

If you have no way to switch you should be able to call CS and ask them for the "new advanced listing tool" on your account which will help to avoid the problem on future listings.

Thanks for the info!  This is my first visit to the board in quite a while, so I'm a bit out of sync with the latest glitches.  🙂

You should be able to click on the box that says " allow buyers to make best offer" to turn it on or off. A check mark in it means it is on, click again to remove the check mark.

You must still be using the old form where it is checked by default, why eBay did this in the first place is beyond sound logic, it has wasted millions of man hours and sellers do not have time to waste.

The good part of the story is the fact that the new listing form does not have that box checked by default, there is no way to get rid of it on the old form other than you unchecking the box everytime, so you will still be wasting even more time until they switch over to the new form full time.

No problem. The sad thing is it seems to be intentional, not a glitch.

@finchpeep If you find yourself in the quick listing tool, you can switch to the advanced tool by clicking on 'save and exit’ at the bottom of the quick listing tool and then you will see 'advanced form' on the top right of the new page.

When you are in the advanced form you can uncheck best offer (which defaults as checked) and can also choose your listing duration time (which defaults to auto-renew / good 'til canceled).

Re: Any way to get rid of the "Best Offer" button eBay is forcing on my listings?

Thanks for the info from you and others. I will see if I can switch to the advanced tool. For those who are telling me to unclick a box, there IS no box to click or unclick. That's the problem. Even when I try to revise the item, there is no box that allows me to select or de-select Best Offer. So I will try the advanced tool and see if that does the trick.

Thanks again to everyone!

Once u add best offer it can't come off till u cancel it.

Those of us that have lots of sales on that listing won't cancel it

Time to deal with it for the rest of you selling life if u have sales history on it

If u cancel and end the listing u most likely will be down near the end of search. So we just have to deal with low ballers

The checkbox is probably greyed off and be taken off. Im.on 3rd party tool and I can't get it off either. But I won't add it again for sure

Re: Any way to get rid of the "Best Offer" button eBay is forcing on my listings?

Yay! It worked! And it also got rid of that "Good Until Cancelled" business as the sole listing duration. My items are now BIN only, and the listing duration is the original 7 days I wanted. For anyone else dealing with this problem, I fixed it by clicking on "Sell Similar" at the top of the item page. That took me to the advanced listing tool (after I got all the warnings from eBay about how that tool is for experienced sellers who sell lots of stuff; right). Then I could uncheck the "Best offer" box and I could change the listing duration to the duration I wanted. Right before I clicked the "List it" button, I had to end the old listing. Otherwise, eBay won't list the new listing, because it sees it as a duplicate of one you already have.

Yes, eBay. All of us sellers WANT to deal with low-ball offers. NOT. (I gave them an earful about this on the little survey box that showed up on the right-hand side. Not that I expect eBay to change...)

Thanks to everyone who replied!
