In short, a buyer blew up my phone overnight and those messages eventually escalated into insults. Keep in mind I hadn't responded yet. I didn't want to deal with them so I canceled their order and told them why, no further contact from me at that point.
They ended up leaving the following negative feedback: "BUYERS BEWARE!! God Awful Seller!! I been buying and selling on eBay for years! Cancelled just cause I asked questions ?? Terrible , Stay Away"
I responded with: "I canceled your order because you were insulting me and blowing up my phone, why did you leave those details out of this feedback you left? Obviously, you're upset because I didn't respond to your insults and canceled your order instead."
I want to get this feedback removed, what steps can I take? There's no option to report the buyer for something like this. I was thinking I could call eBay tomorrow during their hours of operation.

If you wanted it removed, why did you draw attention to it by replying?
That aside ...
eBay does not attempt to determine the "truth" about feedback when deciding whether to remove it. They generally apply their feedback removal policy.

Every seller who has ever received a negative feedback says it's a false claim.
I've never once heard a seller proclaim
"That negative feedback I received was factual and I deserve it".

How did the buyer get your phone number...?
eBay messages which the OP accessed on his phone.

LOL, let me be your first......
But I wrote a nice response to the feedback which was factual.

Two easy methods I know of:
- if the seller requests buyer phone for orders (which can be shared with the carrier to contact the buyer if necessary), then the buyer also receives the phone number of the seller.
- the buyer could request it from eBay. It's a simple form, only available to buyer/seller involved in a transaction, and the same data is sent to both: name, city, state, zip, phone.
I had a seller, once was enough, who actually called me to tell me that he was going to report me to my local police and to the US Post Office for theft via the US Mail. The purchase he says he shipped to me did not arrive, and the Order on eBay showed no tracking number. Since we were already 2+ weeks past purchase, I opened an INR case..... and the floodgates of accusations and threats and foul language opened wide. This guy didn't have a short fuse -- he had NO fuse. The case closed with a full refund and the order has yet to be delivered (been about a year now).
This was for a $5 copper medallion. Five bucks. If I had read thru his feedback, I would have skipped him altogether -- his feedback was full of 'lost packages' and claims that buyers were liars and cheats and low-life scum for trying to scam a hard-working eBay seller for $5. I've been on eBay since '97 -- this was my first contact with the truly unhinged.
I was kinda hoping he would call the local police - there's so little crime in Memphis that cops are just cruising around listening to SXM Radio. I was also kinda hoping he'd blow his top on the officer taking his call when he learned that not only were they not interested, but if he persisted in trying to foist this argument on them, he'd be charged with filing a false police report.
All he had to do was post the tracking number. Simple. If it was USPS, I could review the tracking on their website. If it was eBay Standard Envelope, there's a website for tracking that as well, or I could just call eBay and ask. But he didn't have a tracking number, and that medallion would have been too heavy and too non-bendable (non-machinable) for Standard Envelope. He would have had to shell out $3.50-$4.00 to pay for USPS First Class Package - which includes tracking.
It takes all kinds, I guess. I just don't want to meet them all, is all.

But no one got the OP's phone number. I can see the confusion, though - "blowing up my phone" usually means tons of texts or phone calls, not eBay messages, which are just some messages on eBay's site.

Thank you for being helpful.
I think this thread proves my point on how argumentative and insulting people on eBay are. You however, gave very helpful advice that I hope is useful to many others.

I had someone make a ridiculously low offer on something and ask questions repeatedly that were addressed in the listing. I declined the offer and blocked them.
They then bought the item using another account and left negative feedback that I was rude, although there was no communication between me and the buyer whatsoever. I reported the negative feedback and the fact this person had 2 accounts. Neg feedback was removed. There are petty people who simply retaliate when you won't bend to their will.

The feedback was likely removed because the buyer used a second account to get around your BBL entry -- and that's a big no-no. I've gone thru the same and eBay just *poof*ed the feedback. No muss, no fuss, and never heard from them again. 🙂

Instead of leaving negative feedback, I once had a buyer who sent a personal letter to my home address via USPS mail, biligerently ripping me over his dissatisfaction with a $3 - plus free shipping - item he bought. His goal was to inflict enormous guilt, but said he refused to return the item anyway. I tossed the letter into the trash can.

In my case it was a neutral, and that's exactly what I said to the buyer. I resolved her issue (she was a little quick with the feedback because she didn't think I'd do anything about the complaint), and she revised it.
