Another seller oops

My daughter purchased a pretty mid century modern piece of cased art glass for me here and had it shipped to my address.  It arrived yesterday in perfect condition.  The seller must have been in a hurry to ship it and did not check the piece before packaging.  On the bottom was a large $2.99 price sticker from Goodwill.   (This is the second time an eBay purchase had a cheap price sticker left on the item).

Had to laugh since eBay sellers are known to haunt certain resale stores.

Won't disclose what my daughter paid for it.  Rest assured the seller did receive positive feedback.

I love the piece and added it to my collection.  I have over 200 pieces of art glass, some huge, some small, cobalt, deep red, greens, very bright sun yellow, bright orange, a virtual feast of color.  I change my room accents every six months throughout my whole house so I can enjoy them all.  Thank the gods for Swiffer Dusters   Smiley Happy

For all you know it was purchased years ago. It's like vintage items that have original store stickers from the era it was produced. Doesn't mean the seller paid that little. I've sold items with those orig stickers of 1.99 or so. I paid alot more than that for the item.

It doesn't sound like that was the original price sticker, but one with the price goodwill was selling it for. It could be worth very little or worth much more than goodwill may have known.

Still a lot of work to get it from Goodwell to you, I would add an additional $25 for my work, so my price would be $39.99 with free shipping. take it or leave it. Shipping the item is more than $2.99 so you can't compare in store to online pricing.

Re: Another seller oops

While I'm not a fan of leaving price tags on items being given as gifts, it does happen some times.  Ordinarily I don't pay too much attention to what thrift stores price things at.  I have a beautiful serigraph in my collection that I spotted in a local thrift store priced at $2.  While it is actually only valued at about $85, that still isn't a bad return on $2.

Re: Another seller oops

Morning, New. They have been doing that for ages. I have a Nemadji cabinet vase I have owned for at least 10 years. It is porous pottery so that black price mark will never come out. In fact back then, the "sorting" clerk said it was to negate people reselling it lolol. Meanwhile, they started a huge "on ebay" display (haven't been there for 10 years). But if I decide to sell it, will just cover it up with another black marker. lol. Sometimes WD40 works, but not on porous items.

I ain't got the brains to make this up (Fantastic Beasts)

That sounds lovely. Back when I was first using Ebay I collected colored glassware. Never as an expert, just pieces in various color lines. I filled two cabinets and then quit. We rarely have company for dinner, or least formal dinner, so the pieces don't get used. They are about as useful as my small collection of minerals. But they are pretty.

ummm, from the OP:

"On the bottom was a large $2.99 price sticker from Goodwill."

If it were an original store sticker I don't think this thread would have happened. Smiley Wink

That said...I frequently have books and booklets with the original price on the cover. I've never had anyone (yet!)  ask why I'm selling a 25 cent book for $8-$10. I'm guessing they're smart enough to realize that prices in 1949 aren't the same as today's prices lol

Last Christmas I got all my (adult) children Christmas ornaments from the actual year of their birth on ebay which all arrived with the original price intact, most $5.99 so I'm sure my kids did not realize I paid up to $30 on some in 2017.
