I had a wallet listed that said it was eel skin and made in Korea. In fact I had included a photo of the tag that said genuine eel skin and made in Korea. Received a message asking if the wallet is made from real eel skin from Korea? At first I thought it was a joke, but clicked on feedback left for others.
Although this person has almost 300 FB as a buyer, they have only left feedback 15 times over the years. Of those 15 comments, 14 were negatives. The majority were complaints about item not arriving yet. Buyer was listed in Guam. The only one time they left a green donut was with the comment- although I had to return this item the seller was very nice.
How quickly do you think I added them to my BBL? I also pulled the listing for now, I'm in no rush to sell it....

The question that the buyer asked was not suspicious or a reason to block. I getpeople all the time asking questions like that and I just reassure then that we are legit. What this poster saw in their feedback left for others was dangerous.

Congratulations....
Someone explained to me that this comment was because the OP doesn't want to hear any opinions different from their own. I don't know if that's accurate or not, but that's what was said. I was also told I should explain why I would not have blocked the buyer. The OP probably doesn't care, but others might, so here's my reasoning:
I'm sure this is an unpopular way to view the situation, but that's how I see it.
I don't disagree with or disrespect the choice to block - not in the slightest. I wouldn't have done it myself with my own money at risk. I don't see why that should elicit a snarky "congratulations," but hey, whatever makes ya happy, man. Have a cold one, on me.

Some buyers need to blocked . If I see things like seller worked with me on a return, and perhaps 10 more that look suspicious like this one, I would not trust this transaction.

@chapeau-noir You just reminded me of another story of selling. I once sold a small ornament, which was a ship's wheel. It was based on the ship's wheel from the Titanic, and had a small chip from a piece of wood brought up from the wreck inside a glass tube. May sound expensive but these were small items that sell for under ten dollars. Mine came with original box and COA.
I receive a message asking how "I" got a piece of wood from the Titanic to make this wheel? I kid you not and he was serious. It was a case of naiveté all the way. So I kindly explained how these were made and sent him a link to the official website. Because I was selling mine for $6, and with shipping it was total $10, I decided to sell it to him. Plus the kicker was his FB left for others was all very nice and positives. That is more of the clincher for me as a seller. Buyer was thrilled with his Titanic wheel with actual piece of wood from the wreck....

Fifteen negs? Out of 300+?
That is a LOT.
I had to go back over 4000 FB left before I found any negs left by me.
And that "most" of those are for slow delivery -- to GUAM?
I would not be bothered by the dumb questions. Some buyers have a strategy of asking silly questions to gauge whether the seller is responsive to customers. And off course phone apps. It's annoying but not evil.

My daughters' fiance at the time many years ago smacked my daughter one day. She called me right away and told me about it. Within the hour I had ahold of that young man and convinced him that he was going to die that day.....he in fact, peed all over himself.
I took action right away because he did something I wouldn't tolerate even once.
I did not make excuses for him or think that he was a swell guy because he didn't smack her 29 days out of the month.
Your reasoning on this is pretty skewed.........but if you want to be chummy with a possibly scammy buyer, knock yourself out.
Just don't tell the rest of us we're wrong because we won't.

Afflack!!!!!

So, you like getting returns?
Why would any seller want to sell to a person who doesn't read the description?
We block people for a lot less than this.

Wondering does eBay still bill a seller the FVF if you pull a listing after the buyer contacts you, on suspicion you might have completed the sale outside?

You're actually comparing spousal abuse to a buyer asking a question? I don't even know what to say to that, dude.
Alright guys, this is my last post, then I'm out. To be honest, I didn't think anything of this until you all started jumping on me for having a different opinion.
If the OP had come here asking what to do, I would have said I wouldn't block for this list of reasons (posted above), but if you feel uneasy about it then please block as fast as you can because for some people it's not worth the risk. We all need to do what's right for our own accounts. Go with your gut.
The OP did not ask for advice, they just said, hey guys, this happened. I thought, that's cool, and I have another take on it, here it is. I never said the OP did anything wrong. In fact, I even posted above that I did not disagree with their actions in the least bit. I said for my personal account I would have seen it a different way. For a $35 transaction, the red flags weren't there for me ... maybe a light yellow flag, but not red. I don't see why it's a problem for so many of you that we each do what works best for ourselves.
You guys are throwing words at me just because what's right for my account isn't the same as what's right for your account. Then in the next breath you'll probably go onto another discussion and complain that eBay policies are too one size fits all, but our businesses are not OSFA so the policies should change. That's cool. You be you and I'll be me. On the next thread, I'm sure many who are hating on me right now will be on the "same side" of the discussion that I am. ✌️

Oh that's a great point, thank you. I haven't been charged anything but this was a fixed listing and I'm a long time TRS, so maybe they cut me some slack. I will keep an eye out just in case....

What unadmirable behavior--one everyone's part. That's a story I'd probably keep within the family . . .

Of course you wouldn't have blocked the buyer. You have nothing to sell.

Hi @vintage-camerastuff what's a posting ID?

😆 Don't ask them because obviously they never heard of one.
