Yet another buyer abusing the "buyer protection program" claiming 'not as described' to get free return shipping. Had to waste 20 minutes of my VALUABLE TIME to call ebay, and OF COURSE the representative agreed with me, said I'll note the case, and 'call back Friday so we can close this in your favor' and report your buyer for abusing the system. SO NOW I WILL HAVE WASTED CLOSE TO AN HOUR TO COMBAT FRAUD THAT EBAY IS FOSTERING BY ALLOWING BUYERS TO CLAIM NOT AS DESCRIBED...
AND EBAY WANTS ME OFFERING FREE RETURNS??? EBAY NEEDS TO STICK TO MAKING SURE THE PLATFORM AND APP WORK 100% OF THE TIME AND STAY OUT OF MY BUSINESS!
On another front, I really need to branch out and get my @mazon/@tsy/website up and running this year!!!

Your time is no more valuable than it is for the rest of us. And yes buyer's lie.
So to combat both just accept returns.
I have found the honest ones do not abuse it. And the dishonest ones will just work around it to return for free anyway.

I learned it the hard way. Refused a return so the buyer destroyed a $1,000 platinum band and I had to refund her anyway.

Ever heard of people buying and selling having a separate account for each?
But if you want proof of my selling just read my feedback in reverse starting on page 1 up to the time I opened a second account for selling.

Your statement is absurd. You did something wrong. Even cc companies don't allow their customers to commit fraud, you have to prove it, and for a $1k item, I'll take the time to prove it. I have yet to lose a case with ebay or paypal where the buyer destroyed the item and I had to refund them.

Buyer asked to return. I said no. She destroyed item, filed SNAD. I called ebay. They said prove that this was not how I sent it. Either I refunded or they would do it for me and I would earn a strike. So I refunded.
What choice did I have?

We do free returns on everthing and have for a while. It does seem to keep the buyes happy and they keep coming back.

OP read the newest thread about how the seller fought the return so the buyer took it to her credit card company. Now the seller has to wait 75 days and there is a good chance the buyer will get refunded and not even have to return the item.
So as to your statement that I did something wrong and you were able to successfully fight it, you got lucky, because for every one of you I can point to people like me and the seller of the other thread who were not as fortunate.

Many have different id's for posting, for buying and for selling. I find it's pointless to get into a dispute with a customer if they want to return something. It ends up being more frustration for me and I can hear your frustration clearly. Since I accept all returns for any reason, I haven't had an SNAD in a very long time.

Em - you wonder why some of us get fed up with posters and may get right to the point without coddling - there ya go!!

I think the problem is, that even with a 14 day return policy, buyers are claiming SNAD's to get out of paying for return shipping.
Many years ago, I remember a car salesman telling me "he could pick apart any car on the showroom floor and find flaws". I feel like I have been dealing with this sort of customer - no matter how I describe the item, show pictures, etc. there is that one that can find something - anything, therefore getting free return shipping.

OP - you are obviously upset and have every reason to be - but.... don't take your anger out on the posters here who are trying to explain why not taking returns is sometimes worse than taking them.
Many of us use posting IDs because - posters like yourself have done damage to other posters selling accts just because they don't like what they are hearing. I've been here 20 yrs - em's been here as long as I've been on the boards - we know the ropes and are just advising you as to how to mitigate future problems.
