I'm making new listings yesterday and today. I noticed this AM that the listing page has a
new option to "Add your cost" to the choices of things to use or not use.

"I noticed this AM that the listing page has a
new option to "Add your cost" to the choices of things to use or not use."
That was introduced at the Winter Seller Check-in back in October.
I think enough sellers requested it that eBay decided, "OK, let's try it."
It's optional for a seller to enter some dollar amount in that field. It's only visible to you. No buyer will ever see it.
For my selling ID, I can't see how it will could help me too much. Occasionally, I will buy something for $1-$5 at a yard or rummage sale, and sell it for a small profit. Usually I can do the math myself:
"OK, my proceeds from selling this necklace are $7.55. I bought it at a yard sale for $1.00. So my profit is $6.55."

I just saw that today. Just another superfluous addition that can be ignored like most of eBay’s brilliant new ideas . IMO.

I have no interest in having my cost information available online, Not to hackers and not to the IRS.
I can't prevent my Ebay revenue from being accessed by anyone with a computer or smartphone which is bad enough.
They will have to get this data the hard way, hacking my computers.

For those that want it and, there have been requests on the board for it,....it's a help...........for those that don't, simple enough to ignore. Personally, I don't want my info available to ebay (or anyone else)........but can understand that it will make end of the year reporting easier.
