Another Mis Worded Confusing promotion??

So I just received a promotion to upgrade my Premium Store to Anchor (which I USED to have before the Unreasonable rate increase) for 2 Months at the rate of my yearly subscription fee of $59.95. This promotion says 2 months BUT the fine print says I must cancel BEFORE 30 days of activation?? If I do not cancel within 30 days I will be hit with a Early Termination fee! What is up with that? Normally You have until the last day of the promotion which would be around 60 days for this 2 month upgrade promo to cancel. what is going on round here lately? has anyone else got this Promo? It says in the fine print it is good for all levels of stores but you must go up 1 level.

Contact ebay and request to speak with the person who drafted the wording of the communication, for  clarification and explanation

Do not speak with a rep who will merely give you an opinion.

thanks for the suggestion but frankly that would be to much of a drain on my time. it is so convoluted and by the way the fine print is shrunk down to something you need a jewelers loup to read, that I am not pursuing it. too much hassle!

I read the fine print as well and ignored the promotion because of it. It doesn't make sense to offer 2 months when you really only get 30 days.

If anybody finds out that this promo is truly for a 2 month discount, please let me know.   I'm with the others who don't want to waste their time talking to ebay reps who don't have a clue.

Sounds to me like you have to cancel during the 1st 30 days - if you are going to, even though you will have the store for 2 months.  Sort of like giving 30 days notice.

Of course, since this is ebay, it may mean something completely different.  Smiley Sad

You dont want to do this, if you do you have to get the next higher store in order to qualify.  I was going to do it but read that part.  Bad bad bad.

Oh, you don't have to worry about me getting a store - too old and too lazy.  I've almost learned how to 'do retirement'.   Smiley Very Happy

I have tried re-reading it and came to the same conclusion. On top of that, it seems like you have to sign up for a yearly subscription, which would then reset your renewal date. I, for one, am only a few months from the end of my subscription and questioning whether or not to renew, but this would make that decision for me. I wonder if this is a way of getting some of locked in for another year...

Thank you for tagging a Blue.  I received this promotion also.  After reading it three times, I think I understand how it would work for me.  But...this is eBay and I know what I think may not be what eBay means.

Yep, I saw that too. So basically once again they're lying through their teeth and the promo is only for ONE month's worth of upgrade.

Usually these offer say must cancel within the promo "window". Just more sleazy weasel speak.

I only just downgraded to monthly. I'm not going to get caught in the yearly trap & possible EFT again just for one lousy month's worth of upgrade.

Hi @ekmadonna, from what you have shared here, this promotion provides a promotional rate for 2 months and allows you to cancel within the first 30 days. Can you elaborate on the confusion that has arisen? Sharing a screenshot of the Terms & Conditions of the promotion would be helpful in clarifying what has caused a misunderstanding.

Another Mis Worded Confusing promotion??

I am assuming that we received the same message. It's too long to do a screenshot so I have copied and pasted here.

Here is the heading of the message:

Get Premium Store Perks!

Upgrade now and pay nothing extra for 2 months of benefits. Increased listings, lower fees, and more...

Here is the fine print in the offer that I received:

For sellers who sign up for an annual subscription: if you would like to discontinue your discounted subscription, you must cancel your promotional subscription or revert back to your original store tier within 30 days of subscribing to the eBay store to avoid paying an early termination fee. Terminating your promotional subscription after the end of the Promotion Subscription Period but before fulfilling your one-year store subscription commitment will result in an early termination fee

What is the Promotion?
Invited sellers (“Sellers”) who activate the offer and then upgrade their eBay Store Subscription, pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth herein, will be upgraded to the next level tier (Basic to Premium or Premium to Anchor), and will receive a flat discount on their eBay Store Subscription for the first month from the start date of the upgrade (collectively referred to as “Promotion”). See the Subscription Fee Table below for discount amounts.

*If you are already subscribed to a Yearly Stores subscription, you must upgrade to the yearly store subscription of the next level store tier. Otherwise, you will be charged an early termination fee and will not receive the Promotion.

When is it?
This Promotion will begin on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 00:00:01 PT (12:00AM plus one second), and will end on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 23:59:59 PT (11:59PM plus 59 seconds), for eBay Stores subscriptions on www.ebay.com (the “Promotion Period”).

The period where you pay a discounted subscription fee as a result of this Promotion shall be referred to as the “Promotional Subscription Period.” See Stores cancellation information for more details about canceling a subscription.

How do I get the Promotional Rate?
Sellers who activate the offer and then upgrade their Store subscription here with the seller’s qualifying eBay user ID, will automatically receive the Promotional Rate on their next invoice. Sellers subscribed to a Starter Monthly Store may upgrade to a Basic Monthly or Yearly Store. Sellers subscribed to a Starter Yearly store may only upgrade to a Basic Yearly Store. Sellers subscribed to a Basic Monthly Store may upgrade to a Premium Monthly or Yearly Store. Sellers subscribed to a Basic Yearly Store may only upgrade to a Premium Yearly Store. Similarly, sellers subscribed to a Premium Monthly Store may upgrade to an Anchor Monthly or Yearly Store. Sellers subscribed to a Premium Yearly Store may only upgrade to an Anchor Yearly Store.

Stores cancellation information
Your Store subscription will be deemed to start on the day you sign up and will automatically renew after the Promotional Subscription Period at the level and term selected during sign up. If you do not want to be charged for your eBay Store subscription in accordance with the Store terms after the Promotional Subscription Period, you will need to cancel your subscription by 23:59:59 PST, on the last day of your Promotional Subscription Period. To cancel, click on Subscriptions within the account tab of My eBay, then click on Cancel Subscription.

If you sign up for a Yearly Stores subscription, a one-year commitment period is required. If you downgrade or cancel the Yearly Stores subscription at any time prior to the last month of your subscription, outside of the Promotional Subscription Period, you will be charged an early termination fee.

The maximum value of the fee discount received for this Promotion will be based on the eBay Stores level that is selected during sign up. See the fees table below:

Example Discount Subscription Fee Table Current eBay Stores Level(before Promotion Period) New eBay Stores Level(During Promotion Period) Monthly Subscription fee during Promotion Subscription Period Yearly Subscription fee during Promotion Subscription Period (1-year term required, cancel during Promotional Subscription Period to avoid Early Termination Fees) Starter Basic $27.95 $7.95 $21.95 $4.95 Basic Premium $74.95 $27.95 $59.95 $21.95 Premium Anchor $349.95 $74.95 $299.95 $59.95

†1-year term required for Yearly subscription, cancel during Promotional Subscription Period to avoid Early Termination Fees

What is the Promotion?
If you qualify for the Promotion, the subscription fee discount will be applied to your account during the following billing cycle after you subscribe to an eBay Store.

So, the confusion is mainly in it stating 2 months, but having to cancel within 30 days. From my recollection of changing store subscriptions, any change is immediate, so this means that I would only receive the upgraded store for 1 month. In addition, this would change my renewal date, unless I am misreading something here.

Another Mis Worded Confusing promotion??

Here are my conclusions:

The purpose of this promotion is to entice you to upgrade your store and commit to yearly subscription at the new rate. So yes, you have to upgrade your store and commit to a yearly subscription at the new rate.

The incentive they offer you the seller is two months at your current rate, with the option to change your mind and cancel within the first 30 days.

I see nothing confusing about the offer.

I just see an offer that requires a pretty big committment for a pretty small reward.
