ebay competitor Mercari announced some big changes today. The best summary I've seen is here:

Will this impact ebay's strategy going forward, or will it have little or no effect? I don't know, but it will be interesting to see what the next ebay Seller Update contains....

I don't think its an either/or thing, everyone I know who sells stuff on Mercari is an ebay seller who cross-lists, even more so now that you can automatically cross-list up to 3000 listings from your ebay account to mercari.

No need to abandon ship, on Mercari you can cross-list up to 3000 of your ebay listings automatically
