I don’t know what is going on.
I received formal looking eBay email that I don’t know anything about.
Who must have my password to make this kind of request. And why?
ebay was supposed to call me back 2x but didn’t.
Do get a lot of spam recently but this is ridiculous…

I got a phone call on April 10th pretending to be my bank and they provided me with links directly to my bank to change my password thru email. THANK GOD, my phone wasn't accepting texts, nor calls from them to receive the 6 digit verification code. It even fooled gmail too, because they lumped all those email messages, and one actually from the bank that I used to reset my stuff, together in my inbox. They are really getting devious.
Thanks for letting us know.

One of the biggest problems with all this scamming is that so many of us older people are tech-challenged. I don't have any idea what a lot of you are talking about. And I am not good with a lot of the "all you have to do is" instructions. Show me, okay; tell me, not so much.
I am very careful about texts, messages, etc. that I get and so far I have been okay. But I also know that scammers are getting better and better so it is a bit worrisome that someday, something will get by me.

So darn!
I tried 3x to get eBay to call me back to discuss if I really could get my account closed.
They never did!
I just really don’t want to use the digital assistant & spend my time typing.
I think talking about the “hack” to a staff member is the best way to handle my problem.
Everything is taking too much of my time and it’s upsetting me!

Not sure if you watch YouTube but there are some good (and also some not good) explanations on scams.
One person to watch is Pleasant Green

Hope that helps

Do you WANT to get your account closed? Or are you just worried that the scam message was threatening to do it for you?
Change your login password for Ebay and for the funding account you use for buying and/or selling. Do not respond to ANY link (including phone numbers) that you receive in an unsolicited and/or unexpected email message (regardless of whether it comes to you via Ebay messaging or just to your outside email address). Always use your own bookmarks or type in the site address yourself to log in to your secure accounts (Ebay or bank or whatever) to see if that message is legitimate.
You have apparently now given out your phone number to a scammer - but if your phone is like mine its number was probably compromised a long time ago anyway judging from the number of scam calls I get these days. My service is through AT&T and they will label some incoming calls as SPAM RISK so those I do not answer - if no message is left then I just block the number for future. Others use a city and state as their caller ID name and are usually scams also - again I just block the number for future.
We are not going to have bulletproof scamproof contact info out there so the best you can do is know what to watch out for. Good luck.

I'm really sorry this is causing you stress. I can relate to your frustration because my parents about your age rely on me for help with scam emails and texts.
I think you've received some good advice here, esp. that link from @fashunu4eeuh so if you've consulted that link and don't see any unrecognized activity on your account, then you're probably okay as long as you've changed your password.
I would flag the email as junk and delete it off your phone or computer.
If this happens again, reach out here before you take any action at all and folks will lead you through it.

I don't think you need to call eBay for anything. It was obviously a scam that had nothing to do with eBay. Just change your passwords to be extra cautious, but they wouldn't have your password anyway. I wonder if you're actually contacting eBay? The callback process always gets me a callback almost instantly. Like the longest time it's ever said is 6 minutes & they called within 1. Most of the return calls are within 2 minutes. How are you doing it? Also, did you double check the phone number that it says it will call you back at? I always have to change mine from my cell to my home phone. Make sure to confirm that yours is correct. If you've tried this 3x & aren't getting a callback, there's something wrong there, if you tell us what you're doing, we may be able to steer you properly.
