An extra ten days to pay????

Sold a piece of expensive gold jewelry in early December 2024 and immediately received a message from ebay that the buyer was on the automatic payment program and would have 14 days to send payment (in case she wanted to buy something else from me.) 14 days! And no one asked me if this is Okay. I hunted and hunted for a way to turn off this option but it does not exist. It is apparently a "secret" buyer perk that sellers have no control over. She never did buy anything else and payment was automatically rendered on the 14th day.  The ebay rep on the phone had never heard of this. Anyone else have experience with this nonsense and do you know how to turn it off short of blocking the buyer from future purchases?

To opt out of new Combined Shipping/Delayed Payments go to Shipping Preferences link below and opt out of "combined shipping".

When bidding in Auctions, buyers may choose to Shop and ship separately to have their payment process automatically 1 hour after winning an auction, or choose Shop more, ship together, to get up to 7 days to shop other items from the seller that qualify for combined shipping. With either option, buyers can still choose to check out manually at any time.

To turn on combined shipping: log in to Shipping Preferences in your browser, select ‘Edit’ next to ‘Allow combined payments and shipping’, select ‘Allow buyers to send one combined payment for all items purchased’, and select ‘Save’. Please see our help page for more details.

Thanks but I have always had this setting on "3 days" to combine shipping, the lowest possible time period. I have never clicked on 10 or 14 days so it is a mystery how this one seller was given that privelege.

Heads up

There is now a message on auction pages where combined shipping is enabled telling the buyers of the extra time.

I have the same setting as well.

My International Buyers...a lot can't even combine to send an update on shipping total.

This could be a new test trial on eBay on some sellers...there have been a few where seller and buyer are not notified.

Some sellers do not have automatic payments on auctions set...but eBay tested it as automatic payments in 'one hour' with a clock ticking down to the hour...that got eliminated as I believe.
