Amount of Non-Paying Bidders (NPB) getting out of hand!!!!

6DEAAEEE-4625-45DC-B850-610C3DCE1AFA.jpeg

Please help me here, seems like so many people will make offers or accept offers then just never pay, I wait 5 days then click the ‘cancel and relist’ option, which I was told files a NPB strike on the buyer- I also thought my seller account was set to block NPB that have 2+ NPB strikes in the past 12 months. But then when I check buyers feed back it is filled with False positive comments saying they never paid??? The most recent one I have has 8 False Posit e feedbacks saying they never paid in the past month, it’s getting out of hand. Clearly eBay does nothing about it because it continuously happens, it’s just so darn frustrating.

No, they are indeed getting strikes. Try checking your Buyer Requirements Activity Log (here) and see you have any recent rejects there. Mine at the moment shows 13 automatically-blocked bids in the past 30 days, all of which are listed as "Too many Unpaid Item strikes" (which I suspect is the only type of rejection that this Log lists).

I checked on that buyer after that because with both accounts equating two strikes that would ban them from most people, but he was still buying. Sometimes paying people sometimes not.

I'm not sure, but I would guess that someone with too many Unpaid strikes could still buy items that are listed as Immediate Payment Required. Beyond that, it's a matter of setting your filters appropriately (mine are set at 2 Unpaids in the past 12 months, the highest limit you can set), and the Activity Log page will show you how many are blocked. (I notice they often make more than one attempt at bidding, as if there must be some mistake... 😉)

Yes you are right AC GREEN, in my case at least, I have 45 blocked transactions in the past 3 months, so apparently it is working for me too! Appreciate you guys expertise on this. I have sold on eBay a long time but this was a grey area for me, I understand it much better now thanks to a couple of you guys.

I have avoided the problem of non-payment by selling at fixed price and not accepting offers.

I've had a huge spike in non-payment over the last 3 weeks.  I finally had to turn off best offer for all of my listings because of it.  Sadly because of the deadbeats allowed on eBay, good buyers now don't get the option to make an offer and maybe save a few bucks.

There is absolutely no reason why eBay does not make EVERY offer sender agree to immediate payment if the offer is accepted and make sure that they payment method is tested and on file.  Every other selling site seems to be able to do this, eBay needs to get into 2022 and do this as well.  Don't make it an option, make it mandatory for all offer makers.  Don't allow sellers to turn it off either.  Make it across the board for everyone.

Yeah, I don't agree with that. Why give sellers less control of their sales? I would be in the camp of requiring immediate payment on offers. But I don't think if other sellers want to allow buyers to wait, that's something they should HAVE to participate in.

I myself, want paid. I get quite a few non payers. Some buyers may not like it, but I would guess the majority that don't like it, are the ones that aren't paying anyway.

I'd also prefer to see eBay combine immediate pay with buyers paying cancellation costs. If someone changes their mind, that's fine, but it should cost them, not us.

Re: Amount of Non-Paying Bidders (NPB) getting out of hand!!!!

The continuous rollover means that longstanding fixed price listings can accumulate  long, increasing "Sold" history, which gives them credibility.

Thanks for the clarification. It's easy to over-simplify.

The downside of the rollover for sellers with OOAK products like my books and patterns, is that eBay drops the listing in visibility month by month. I often get 16 month notifications advising me to do something. Usually I will close the listing and then relist a couple of weeks later,  sometimes tweaked in the Item Specifics some other detail.
