Anybody else always get a surge in sales before Ebay totals your monthly bill -- and then a drop to nothing after the bill is computed? Happens to me every month. Like I don't owe them enough so they give my listings some "light" right before the bill closes for the month -- then sales go flat.
I notice this because when sales are dead, I think-- well at least I won't have alot of fees to pay this month and THEN like clockwork every month -- just a few days BEFORE the bill a sudden surge in sales until the bill gets up to what it normally averages -- then nothing again.
I know it would make no sense for them to do this but it happens every month.

Probably no one has money to buy stuff after paying Ebay all the fees. Also I notice the end of the month is usually slow. After the 1st I make the most sale when People get paid.

We noticed that over a year ago and it's been pretty consistent every month since then. A couple days before the billing we get a surge.
Always hate how much control they take of our business. We do our best to work with it though.

The biggest increase in exposure in an attempt to get them additional sales goes to accounts that will shortly be up for renewal....especially the month when the renewal decision has to be made.

Yes I have noticed something like this.
However, I always chalked it up recalculations in their general seller/items for sale algorithm. I imagine everyone's "rank" (for lack of a better word), as compiled from data collected over the course of the month, has to be re-figured at some point, and my sales over the last year have always slowed at the beginning of my new evaluation period, picking up within a few days or a week.

I have the same problem

I have made the exact same observation except my billing closes on 16th of each month. Due at the end. Sales right at the end of billing period then nothing until the first of the following month.Adds to the confusion having a store and number of listings per month straddling 2 months at a time. Numerous sellers have made similar observations with orders to a state, province or country/region out of the blue. No rhyme or reason. It just happens. I actually had more transactions per month at a steady rate with less listings several years ago than I do now with 3 times the listings. Ummmm thanks...GTC!!
