Allowing buyer more time to pay? Is it allowed?

I recently sold an item, and though it's been several days the buyer has neither contacted me nor paid.  While it is still within the five day window, I had hoped the buyer would pay by early Friday afternoon so I could get it out that afternoon, so I sent a message explaining that.  No response.  And today there still hasn't been any.

I understand that life happens and the buyer may need to pay a few days later.  Maybe they're waiting for someone to pay them.  I'm willing to work with them on that basis, but not if this will somehow cause issues with the eBay reputation of either of us.  Or really, to be honest, my own eBay rep.  As a buyer I have never bid or offered on the item if I didn't have the funds to pay for it, or knew that I would have when the auction concluded.

Never fall in love with the deal.  When you get excited about the sale (in anything) and become willing to be 'flexible', learn to recognize the flag.  That is how scams work - 'I got $5000 for an item I was listing that is only worth $500'...there's a reason for  that.  Buyers know the rules, adhere to them.

Sorry that 4 days to wait seems too long in your opinion.

However, eBay's site, so eBay's rules.

If you want people to pay immediately, then list FP with IPR.

If you're "more than willing to accommodate", ok, although you did seem a little anxious.

But do not "accommodate" past 30 days.  Personally, if it has been at least 96 hours, I'd be cancelling right now, using buyer did not pay as the reason.

There are 4 other similar listings from sellers in Japan. Personally, I would clean the smudges off of it, re-shoot with better lighting on the face AND on the leather band (is it black? brown?), and relist at $124.99 Buy It Now with free shipping.

Since you haven't sold in a while, I recommend checking the Immediate Payment required box in the listing. That way you won't be strung out. Don't allow offers for at least 60 days.

I canceled the sale.  Where would a prospective seller see that that there's now a nonpayment strike?   He/She has only ten feedback events, all still positive, and has only been on eBay since April of this year.

You cannot see the number of Unpaids on a buyer record. The way it works is that you can set your Buyer requirements to block any buyer with as few as 2 Unpaids over the past 12 months.

If any deadbeats do get blocked by your Buyer requirements you will see that listed on your Buyer Requirements activity page.
