This morning at 6:30 AM, I began making all these new asinine "item specific" changes that eBay dumped on us on May 11; and by about 2:00 PM, I was ready to throw in the towel.
When I had started out this morning, there were 486 items that upon which eBay requested new "item specifics." I worked about 10 hours -- and now it's well over 600! It appears that I am actually making NO headway. Just call me Sisyphus.
I have over 2700 items in my eBay store. It would appear that eBay is demanding that I add their new "item specifics" on each and every one of them.
This is stupid. Criminal. Asinine. Torture.
Who has time to list anything NEW, when eBay keeps meddling with all the previously listed items?
Get a clue, eBay.

We're in a similar situation. But we're waiting a couple days for the dust to settle.
Chances are good that by the time you update everything, eBay will change the system again.

That's what we're afraid of also. Constant moving target. Get worse by the hour.

And now I've just tried to add the new "Item Specifics" for the book which has the title THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE & THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES; but eBay has sent an error message, stating that the title has too many letters in it!
Too bad, eBay -- complain to the author!!!

I've worked on mine too (not as much as you), but I just read the ebay rep posted on your other thread to hold off for about 5 days to revise them. He said many of the specs should auto fill in by then from the transition.

I've had listings in the past that required supposed and I use that term very loosely multiple times updating over the course of several weeks. It really depends on what categories they are working on and how long the programmers get for breaks and lunch. Earlier this morning I was at 35...Closing in quick on 100. 1 vintage collectable magazine is asking for 16 fields to be updated. Off the top of my head I maybe know 3 of them.

just fill in the info with whatever comes down in the dropdown...example
say if i have a
pink floyd dark side of the moon
and in the new stuff ebay wants you put in
the beatles
abbey road
the lp won't even show up in a beatles search of abbey road...
i tried it...
try it with one ofe your listings
i did about 500 of my 4000 listings in 3 hours
they don't care about us so why should we care about us
so why should we care about them

I am really reluctant to change any of mine yet, just incase when the 'dust settles' things change yet again.
Just remember - It is all about 'enhancing' our eBay experience LOL
(certainly enhancing my ability to control my frustration!)

The eBay rep was referring only to item specifics which had previously been listed, but then deleted.
Unfortunately, "book title," "album title," "CD title," "DVD title," etc were never previously "item specifics" -- that was information that was provided by the sellers, but not clearly designated as an "item specific" by eBay.
In other words -- we're screwed.

curious if you figured this out. I sell cd's and I am getting caught up by the "release title" specific. I talked to eBay and they told me to wait a few days and try a different browser. Wait a few days, really? How does a seller give a specific release title with 250 variations?

If it's any help... You only need to fill in the specifics boxes that Ebay labels as "Required" or "Required Soon". You do NOT have to fill in the boxes that say "Recommended", unless you see the merit in doing so. Your Seller Hub Listings has a column for "Item Specifics", which tell you what items are requiring specifics, and the ones that specifics are only recommended.
It took me only 4 hours to go thru my 700+ listings that way. On some of what I consider really dumb specifics that Ebay still labeled as "Required", I simply filled in "See Item Description", and used my paste feature for that a lot... For instance, on my picture frames, they "Required" frame length, height, and width dimensions, and the same for the picture area. Well, I had those dimensions in the title or description anyway, so I put in "See Item Description" and it was accepted as completed.
When it gets right down to it, I don't think most of those item specifics are necessary anyway, as I believe that buyers are going to look at the photographs and title and be interested in what appeals to them that way, not some Ebay employees' ideas of exhaustive micromanaged specifics that hardly anyone is going to use in their searches anyway, and only gunk up the listing details.
I hope that this helps you see that you may not have that much work to do after all.
Cheers, Duffy

Same here, after hours of fixing all my listings every day i found eBay mysteriously deleted the new information i put in and saved
the glitch happened most on iPhone Ebay App.
make sure under the scroll down bars that there isn't an old outdated option selected. for instance mine was "made in 1999-now" this was outdated. the new option in the scroll down menu is "2020-now".

Pour a glass of wine.
Put on some good music.
It's update item specifics time. 😃

Or you could just trucate it. It's not like anyone is going to care.
