This morning at 6:30 AM, I began making all these new asinine "item specific" changes that eBay dumped on us on May 11; and by about 2:00 PM, I was ready to throw in the towel.
When I had started out this morning, there were 486 items that upon which eBay requested new "item specifics." I worked about 10 hours -- and now it's well over 600! It appears that I am actually making NO headway. Just call me Sisyphus.
I have over 2700 items in my eBay store. It would appear that eBay is demanding that I add their new "item specifics" on each and every one of them.
This is stupid. Criminal. Asinine. Torture.
Who has time to list anything NEW, when eBay keeps meddling with all the previously listed items?
Get a clue, eBay.

Agree totally , I only list 60 - 80 items .. antiques and art .. since 1999 .. I DO NOT want anymore specifics on my listings , I only want the specifics that are in the title ... I buy the same way ( at least I used to .. not buying now since the managed payment nightmare ) Used to buy with my pay pal monies ... I have only used $ in my pay pal account to purchase , not even sure how to buy on e bay , I am sure I could use a credit card or other accepted payment method but my pay pal account made it simple and I used monies from sales .. like mad $ so to speak .. Anyway we're screwed !

I couldn't agree with you more! Initially I never even got a notification about this fiasco going into affect on July 12th......it was only through a phone from a friend (who also sells vinyl associated products) that I became aware of this thing. So I contacted Seller Support to get the 'scoop'.....I was told "that since vinyl is NOT part of the Collectables category, that the Item Specifics process will not affect my 6,000+ listings". My fellow vinyl Seller insisted that WHAT HE IS SEEING (again, nothing to me....nor to another friend that is a vinyl associated Seller.....), vinyl should definitely be IMPACTED! Over a period of about three (wasted) weeks, the Seller Support 'ball score' was: FIVE said vinyl WILL NOT be impacted; and FOUR said yes it would. FINALLY, the 9th individual did her 'homework', and found that vinyl was 'buried' in one of the other categories entitled 'Media'. THREE PLUS WEEKS of Item Specifics 'corrections' wasted.
So there it began for me (as well as my other two vinyl selling friends....one of which only had slightly over 100 listings; but the other had over 3,000+...none of which had any information within those stupid three Item Specifics categories)......I started with 5,942 listings needing updating. I've wasted hundreds of hours filling in 1-3 of those fields (none of which can use a BULK update...IF one existed); and of course, I am constantly 'surprise' with UPC errors (another stupid late eBay software requirement) and (periodically) HTTP errors (caused by eBay's long ago migration to Google Chrome.
Well, I have to go.....I now working on the items listed on the '2nd day of the month' (a procedure I created so that I can avoid dropping off my store store on August 12sth.....need a procedure....write me at LOA...backwards). I still have 1,650 left to update. LISTING ITEMS......you've got to be kidding....even in my retirement, who really has time to both activities efficiently.
