Hi everyone.
i was hoping for some advice.
i have been selling on eBay for close to twenty years. I have 100% positive feedback.
someone purchased an item from me. The next day I purchased the priority mail label through eBay. I shipped the item the following day. After about a week, I received the item back as “Adressee Unknown at Address”. That day I messaged the buyer, told them what happened, sent them a photo of the USPS lable as it was returned to me. I told them that I shipped the item to their address as listed on eBay, but that I would gladly reship to another address if the pay for the shipping cost.
the buyer never replied to me. Ten days later, the buyer filed a claim through eBay that they had not received their item. I entered the tracking number and replied to the case with all of this information. Four days have passed and the buyer hasn’t replied.
i would like eBay to step in, since they have my funds on hold and I have already spent money on the shipping cost.
any advice? Can I ask eBay to release my funds and close the case? Can eBay just keep my funds on hold forever? Any help is appreciated.
thanks!!

I had that happen to me recently. Once I got the item back from Return To Sender, the buyer's INR was closed in my favor automatically.
I would think it would time out, but you can probably escalate if you have that tracking entered into the INR claim

EBAY case should "close automatically" in your favor. I would wait 7 days before asking EBAY to step in?
Since you received this item back, the fair thing to do would be to refund the customer "purchase price only" (minus shipping money you spent).
Even if you win EBAY case, any customer still has 6-months to get "payment reversed" from their credit card company. EBAY has "no control" over what the credit card company does.
