Advanced Variations Question

Recently I ventured in to finding out how to add variations to a listing.  I sell sports cards, and sometimes there are up to 400+ cards.  Right now I have a list of those cards and have to copy and paste each individual card in to the variation.  Is there a faster way to get all the variations on at one time?  My knuckles and hands, suffering from Mouse use, would love an easier way to do so.  Thank you in advance for any help 🙂

Unfortunately, the way you are presently adding variations to listings, is probably the best method you can use. The only other ways to do this are, by using the eBay APIs and FileExchange.

Both methods require the use of a online image server to deliver the images to eBay. Most of the 'free' image sites disallow using their service for commercial use. This means you would have to pay a subscription to one of these services or use a private web server (VPS) to store the images. Both of these options can be pricey. Plus you would have the additional step to upload your images to the online image server.

Both methods are very strict in the way they are used. Spelling and capitalization are very important. You must use keywords to describe data. The keywords must be exact. These methods have a large learning curve.

But here is one major drawback to using these methods...Unless you are using programming scripts to create item listings, these methods will not decrease your typing or copying steps. In most cases, this will increase.

eBay's online listing flows, that you are presently using, does a lot of work for eBay members. You can upload images from your private computer, do not need to know the specifics of the programming steps involved in creating a listing, and provide the correct options for each data field, without the user knowing ahead of time, what those options must be.

eBay is continually updating this site. Some advice given may have changed. Please reply to this thread, to let us know if this advice works for you. Re: Advanced Variations Question

Awesome information!  Thank you!  Paying for more software to sell on Ebay does not sound like it's worth my time.  I do appreciate your info very much 🙂

Unrelated to listings, but I highly recommend using an ergonomic mouse.  I use an Evoluent one and it's SUCH a relief on my hand / wrist.

Variation listings are a lot of work - but still easier than doing hundreds of single listings. You may consider creating a variation listing with only a handful of items to start, then add a few new variations each day. There is no policy that all variations have to be present when you publish the listing. Space out the work to make it easier.
