Hello guys and gals,
I recently began shipping and selling my tires on here and came across a buyer who wants me to ship a tire to a PO Box. I only use FedEx as a shipping option and they do not ship to a PO Box. I know last year when PayPal was handling payments if I shipped to an address that was not the confirmed address on PayPal the customer can open an item not received claim and win it because it would show it was shipped elsewhere. Now with eBay handling payments I cannot seem to find a way to request an address change. Does anyone know the proper procedure to ship to a different address other than the one the customer selected when they checked out?

You don't, unless you want to lose an item not received case.
You'll have to cancel the order. Since you use Fedex you need to block PO Boxes in your shipping preferences: https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf/excludeRegions

Do not change the shipping address. You need to cancel this transaction and have customer re-purchase showing the correct address.

thanks for the replies. I went ahead and cancelled the order. I also changed the specific to include exclusion to PO box addresses on all my 50 listings. Thanks!

Does the buyer comprehend the cost difference between FedEx and shipping via USPS on something like a tire?

I have the listings set up with free shipping so they have no clue of either of the cost involved. USPS is a pain in the butt to use so I like to stick with Fedex

Don't change address after the fact. But if you want, you can tell the buyer you need a street address for the PO box if he wants you to send it.
Basically, instead of:
PO Box 123
Some City, State 67890
He can give you:
456 Fake Street #123
Some City, State 67890
Most PO boxes should have a street address as an option. And that will allow you to ship it using FedEx or UPS.

Yep the USPS carries the last leg for FEDEX and UPS in rural areas all across America where they do not ship because they would have to raise their prices greatly. They also can deliver to PO Box since is all you have to do is get the street address of that Post Office. We have had a PO Box for over 50 years and get packages from both those carriers.
