It seems like add rates have gone from around 10% to 15-17%. I have 20/20 vision so I'm not seeing things. So, on top of 13.25% I pay when a listing sells, if I go with recommended at rate, it's another 15-17%? Folks, tell me. What is the story? Eventually, it will be 50% of your sales, plus shipping & tax, to play in this game! No, your not obligated to pay these add rates. It's a sad state of affairs for many sellers. Sure, Google charges to post listings. Yes, I can go through the list of 5 similar sites getting their listing ahead of Ebay without those add fees. Tell me the whole story!!!

The buyer must understand how this works. Yes, they have COMPLETE CONTROL over what they decide to do.

Next month—Bingo, it may work.

This trend is obviously due to Climate Warming. We must lower our CO2 footprint.

That’s exactly what was said basically by Ari Cornish on NPR a week ago. Revenues look good but also the cost of goods have gone up so much that it does not represent the fact that actual number of sales are really down. It makes the numbers look good but really they’re is less buying activity.

I really did not need to hear that but yes true.

So you're saying we shouldn't believe the self serving garbage eBay is trying to feed us?
We agree.

I think what you should understand is that you need to use good common sense when you use the promotions and test them before you go on to jack the ads up.

Interesting charts.
We can see the "pandemic surge" of 2020-2021 in GMV clearly and the sudden drop in 2022 that confuses so many sellers who joined during those years.
But while eBay's revenues (income? profits?) average out to 10%of Gross they were highest in Q4'19 and Q1'20 - pre pandemic.
Interesting.
Is my reading correct?

Simple explanation without graph. Making money with less sales.

Why? Aren't you ready for it? LOL

Nope, never said that. Those are your words, not mine. I'm saying that things Ebay RECOMMENDS are just that, recommendations / suggestions. Sellers need to use their own brains to decide whether that would be a good thing or bad thing for them.
Some here talk as if we don't have the ability to make decision, we are force into everything. That simply is not true.
Ebay offers all kinds of tools that we can use as sellers. It is up to each seller to use whatever tool they feel will be helpful to them. No one has to use all tools. If you don't like a tool, simply don't use it.

Means sellers are selling more high priced items. Which the last few years Ebay has been working hard to promote.
10-26-2023 05:19 PM
Oh I am ready. Lots of promoted items, just reduced some prices. Added some really nice items. I go my eyeballs on everybody selling the same items and I am being FIERCE in my competitive pricing.

Yes, that’s what that graph shows for sure.
