I posted an ad for a threaded barrel for a handgun. I was truly unaware that a threaded barrel was not allowed and I was truly amazed by the reason. While eBay sells pistol parts like slides, barrels, trigger assemblies, etc. A threaded barrel does not constitute that a pistol is an assault weapon. That is ludicrous! A handgun is a weapon no matter what. By being able to put a suppressor onto a handgun still makes it a weapon, but might reduce the sound decibel a little. By no means, does a suppressor make a handgun an assault weapon. If that were the case, then a knife should be considered an assault weapon. Think about that. eBay is taking things too far. Please use common sense.

What category did you try to list it in ?

The same category where sellers are selling barrels, slides, etc for pistols. Why do you ask? Again, I don’t think that having a threaded barrel is any different than a standard barrel for what the barrel is intended to do. And I was not aware that a threaded barrel was not allowed

Asked for the category so I could check other listings, but apparently per the link they are prohibited.

I was under the impression that silencers were illegal. Therefore, a threaded barrel meant to accept a silencer would also seem to be illegal.

Generally speaking, knives are also prohibited.
Now if you want to talk about an assault weapon I've got this chain saw -------

There are quite a few States that ban a weapon with a threaded barrel and even replacement barrels cannot be sold, mostly because you can attach silencers or recoil compensators and those are illegal in most States, not all.
There are sites where these types of things can be sold, but they are limited, etc.

I don’t know too much about weaponry, that is a fact. But, even my rudimentary understanding can separate some not so subtle differences between a firearm and a knife.
It seems like the majority of those who try to find a real link between these two weapons often are those who support less gun control.
Just my observation. Probably not based on fact.

Suppressors are not illegal to own. Not at all. They fall under the NFA act and are authorized through the ATF. Some states may not allow them for individual use though, but they are legal to own. Please don’t spread thoughts like this without first understanding what is legal or not.

I respectfully disagree

I support gun control, but it has to make sense. We are never going to appeal to everyone and everyone has their opinion. But if you take away guns or knives or whatever is used as a weapon, violence will not stop. The underlying issue is not guns. The underlying issue is the media and people who don’t care about laws and regulations.

threaded barrels are NOT ILLEGAL....... as a matter of fact, not even the ATF bans them....... its also constitutionally LEGAL to own them.

Not sure if they are ''illegal'', just that they are not allowed to be listed on eBay.

They are not illegal. My whole point I bringing this up here is that a regular barrel vs a threaded barrel, there is no difference. By being able to add a suppressor to a firearm DOES NOT make that firearm an assault weapon. That is why I think that eBay is taking things too far. We need to stop the ignorance. That is the point.
