Latest email from the boss man ebay. Aren't there Federal financial laws that prohibit these kind of moves by a business? I guess we are going to be forced into managed payments one way or the other. I wish the FTC would crawl up ebay's you know what. I think the action required is to find some other way to sell my stuff.

Brian,
I have been selling for a jewelry store/pawn shop for nearly 10 years on eBay. Classic Creations in Diamonds & Gold out of Venice Florida our store is CCDG on eBay. We have over 1M in sales and I received the email today saying that we MUST activate this by October 22nd or we will not be allowed to create any more listings. ALL of our items listed (500+) include the Global Shipping Program. What steps can be made for us to not be included in this October 22nd roll out until the GSP program is implemented?
We also have a few other questions regarding receiving payment. Say we sell a 3K Rolex watch. The buyer "pays" for the item but we don't receive the money for a few days with the MP system. Whose to say this "buyer" won't contact his credit card company disputing the charge and then end up with the watch for free since its being delivered to him? How can you make us ship items of high value out without receiving payment first? Where is our protection regarding this possible situation as sellers?
Also will eBay send sellers a 1099-K like PayPal has done? It's my understanding that shipping payments still need to go through PayPal in order to receive our discount - is that true?!
I personally know of 4 sellers who received this same email - basically threatening us sellers - it's not right especially when this entire program was slated to be in 2020/21.
Thank you

This is of direct concern to me. Do you happen to know if MP will push orders to 3rd party postage vendors and integrated shipping solutions? I do not use ebay labels, so this is critical info for for me. Thank you!
I use stamps.com and pirateship.com. I have not had any interruptions in my shipping process @moo*cow*corner

Speaking only for myself, I'm glad to be part of the "unfinished" product because I've been able to work with the MP team on some changes. Had I waited to join until the very end I probably wouldn't have the ability to push for features I need.
Sellers are always saying eBay should consult us before making changes because they don't consider a seller's needs. I saw this as an opportunity to be consulted before finalizing their product.

I’ve had managed payments for about month. I’m getting used to. My sales are way up, but so are nasty buyers and returns. My advice is prepare for the change. It takes about 7 days to get the first sale thru, once you get in the system it’s better but I wish I could have prepared for the changes.
A-HA!
This is why everyone's (who is not in MP) sales are way down...maybe eBay's algorithms give preference to those who are in their MP system...
...yet another conspiracy theory...

I realize I should have been more specific. The requirement to use PayPal is only with eBay labels. I use eBay labels sometimes for the added 3% Priority discount.

There is another thread about forced Managed Payments with a screen print of today's message that is requiring sellers to sign up by Oct 22nd. The title of that email is "Count on BIG sales with these items" but the contents is the message requiring sellers to sign up for MP by that date. There are several grammatical errors in the message. A seller commented that they called CS and was told that the emails are errors and the only valid ones are the ones that were sent out on Aug 22nd, not this week! They were told that unless they got an email on Aug 22nd to sign up, to disregard it.
So, now I'm really confused. I sent a message to Brian in that thread asking him to please check it out. It is very disturbing if they were sent in error by eBay but even more disturbing if they are phishing emails! I still have not received the mandatory Oct 22 and hope I never do!
Can anyone else who received today's Oct 22 email verify that the subject title is completely different from the contents and there are grammatical errors in it?

I just checked my messages from eBay (not email) and the Action Requested message is there so at least I feel better that it's not a phishing email. But Brian needs to confirm whether the messages this week were in error because CS is saying they are and to ignore them unless you received one on Aug 22nd.

Well, with all due respect, ebay has to get so many people in the program at particular intervals to acquire the stock amounts agreed to by Adyen when they signed their contract. Perhaps there may have been some hesitation by some sellers to sign up, and the numbers are possibly lagging behind for this particular interval?
I'm afraid eBay's failure to achieve their goal is solely due to their own actions. Lack of accountability and accepting responsibility for their own attitudes by displaying disrespect and disloyalty to it's customer base. Which is the SELLER - not the buyer. eBay can't be trusted to run their website without glitches, they can't get a search function to operate... they have ruined everything good that the name eBay was known for. They encourage theft and allow counterfeits. They create applications to grab money from sellers and penalize us at every opportunity every time we sneeze.
How can they be trusted to handle our money? They can't even arrange to get those involved with Mangled Payments (yes, mangled) to get money to the customer in a timely fashion and to the right deposit site of choice and offer accounting reports of independent sales - who wants everything lumped together? Taxes will be a nightmare.

supposedly from what I've read, ayden and those processing managed payments have TONS of EXPERIENCE with etsy and other online venues (with that said i'm not sure why they would partner with ebay who seems to be their own mass grave.)
but with all this experience why can't they fix and streamline managed payments to actual work as it should? just curious

The reality of a situation like this has been posted before ... if a Buyer processes a charge back while the item is in transit AND before YOU have been paid then the money gets tied up for 75 - 90 days while eBay-Adyen "go to bat for you" on fighting the charge back. So, unless you can stop the shipment and get it returned to you the Buyer will wind up with the item ... I doubt they will return it.

I am in Global Shipping & rec;d a message I -MUST- sign up for Managed Payments by October 22... Who do I contact as this contradicts your Post ? Thx, genv
The email you received requesting registration is accurate. As we continue on our path towards managed payments, we will require sellers invited to register. We are being very deliberate in who we invite since we do not yet support Global Shipping Program or eBay Charity Listings yet, yet have been clear that managed payments is coming for all sellers.
Sellers who have been invited to managed payments can be required to register.
Sellers who haven’t received an email shouldn’t concern themselves with managed payments at this time.
Thanks for selling on eBay.
Brian

It looks like there are still many unanswered questions that will remain so. And, regretfully, it looks like Mr. Burke got tied up today and wasn't able to return to the thread.
With all due respect, it would appear that the deadline for meeting one of the four tranches may well be coming up near the end of October. That might account for the Oct. 22nd deadline some sellers are reporting receiving.
