I have been having this problem for more than a month. I receive an email from eBay saying I have an oustanding amount owed for eBay fees, but does not show an amount owing, and says make a payment to keep my account in good standing. I do not owe money so is impossible for me to make a payment. Because I don't make a payment eBay restricts my account and a few hours later suspends my account. I contact eBay via the chat session and the nice CS rep sees that I don't owe money and reinstates my account, assuring me that all is well now. But two or three days later I receive another email saying I owe money and the whole cycle starts again. I have had numerous chat sessions with CS reps but they can't help me. And now I don't even have to contact a CS rep. Literally 15 minutes after I received the latest your account is suspended email I received an email saying my account is reinstated, thanking me for making a payment. Two minutes later I get another email saying my account is reinstated, thanking me for submitting the requested information. I didn't make a payment or submit information. Obviously my name is on some automatic you owe money email sender program. Someone at eBay MUST KNOW how to remove my name from this program. But so far nothing. And when my account is suspended my listings are cancelled. Makes me look bad to bidders and watchers. And I am concerned that my account has been suspended so many times that eBay might decide that I am a "bad risk" and suspend it permanently. I am hoping someone has had a similar problem and was able to find a solutuion. HELP!

If you spoke to the reps via ebay/help/home...they are basically telling you what you want to hear, but not fixing the problem. They're based overseas and are pretty much clueless.
Your best bet is to reach out on social media via this link:
https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/
These are credible US reps who actually work for ebay and there have been numerous posts on these boards of very positive results. So sorry this is your situation. So many glitches plaguing ebay right now. Good luck and hope all goes well.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have heard of facebook but have no idea how to interact with it. When I clicked on your link I got a notice telling me to Log In or Create an Account.

Good Morning theodetic! I would contact an "agent" and upgrade the call to a "supervisor," or "manager," they have the authority to "fix the problem!" Trust this helps you! God Bless! Eujie

Do you not have an account? You can create one without a photo and don't necessarily have to post anything on it. Make sure the name on the account you create is the same on your ebay account, should you choose to open one up.

Thank you very much for the reply. In some of my chat sessions and a phone conversation I have been passed on to a second level, a "specialized team", and then on to a third level. Is this what you mean by upgrade the call to a supervisor or manager or should I specifically ask to chat with a supervisor or manager? Noone in the three levels I have chatted with or talked to has been able to help. They can reinstate my account but they can't resolve the problem.

As I mentioned I don't know anything about facebook but assumed that I would have to be a member in order to access it. Thanks for the information and advice.

Agreeing with @ckimodog If it were me I would go ahead and create a basically empty facebook account with your name and perhaps a fictitious birth date. You dont have to post anything or say anything on facebook. This gives you the use of the facebook messenger app to conatact ebay reps who use the same app. These are private messages that go directly to US based reps with high authority. It may take a day or 2 for your first response since it is a holiday weekend. But definitely worth it.

Could your account be associated with a family member/roommate, etc who may owe money? If you share an IP address, your account could be caught up in their mess. Just a thought.

Thank you very much for the reply. I don't know why I should have to reach a knowledgeable eBay rep through a third party but it appears that this is my best option. I don't know what an app is but I'm hoping I can figure it out. Thanks for the advice re creating a facebook account. I am assuming that the account can be cancelled?

Yes, you can kill the account when you are done with it.
Regarding the app, that is for a tablet or smartphone. On a PC when you follow the link given above it will open a new window on you PC that the chat conversation log appears in. It is a smallish window but you can maximize it to take the whole screen. So at that point you are in the messenger application and facebook is open in another window.
I actually had a similar issue to yours. My account auto-pays nightly. Sometimes FedEx labels which get posted later at night come up after the auto-pay. This makes eBay think I did not pay because the did not pay program checks AFTER the auto pay takes place. There is an open window of time where this can happen and they sent you a please pay notice. If another auto-pay takes place your balance is then zero but you still got the no-pay message recorded on your account... nice.
Then the next night the auto-pay picks up and pays the FedEx labels it missed the previous night. But in the mean time they think you did not pay. Reps on facebook opened a ticket for me and it does not happen any more. Dont know if my name is on an exception list or they fixed my problem and created yours. ha ha not funny.

Thanks for the suggestion but no, that isn't a possibility. And it is very strange. Now I get an automatic reinstatement email thanking me for the payment when no payment was made.

I'm with you, i have no intention to support facebook format nor do I believe eBay customer service should be depended on it. I know how to use it. I want no part of it.

Do you by chance have a credit card on file that has expired? I have heard this happening to others that had an expired card and once they corrected it, it fixed the issue. Cannot hurt to look.

Thanks for the information. I know what a smartphone is, not sure about a tablet, but I don't have either one and don't intend to. So, happy to read that a PC is all I need. And thanks for taking the time to explain the problem you were having but I have no idea what any of it means. Have been an eBay member for 20 years and I do everything old-school, by hand. Thanks again.
