Accepted an offer, buyer hasn't paid, can't find offer?

Hi all!

I know some variations of this question have been asked previously, but I haven't found anything that answers my specific question. (If it's out there, link me it and close the lock the post lol, I won't be offended!)

A buyer made an offer, I accepted, and they haven't paid. I understand that I'll be able to cancel this after four days of non-payment, but in the meantime, where can I find that offer? I've looked under orders > awaiting payment, but nothing is there. It shows up on my homepage as a 'new offer', but when I click it, it says the offer has expired. On the app, if I look at the offers on this specific item, it shows me that the offer is still pending and awaiting payment. I'm not really sure what's going on with this offer or why I can't find it anywhere except on the app. Some sort of glitch? User error of some kind on my part? Am I just dumb?

(I also messaged the buyer nicely just to let them know it's not paid yet, just in case they didn't realize. I'm not going to send an invoice because I've been told it resets the four day counter for cancellation.)

I have accepted 2 offers over night and woke up to still not paid.

I just finished talking to customer support. It is a new seller experience for us they claim. Too many sellers claiming buyers are not paying and having to relist? So the item you accepted an offer on is still available for purchase until they pay. 

1. Is a payment method not required when you make offer?

2. My 2 buyers apparently have no clue how to pay now after I emailed them.

A couple of months ago, ebay made changes to offers. 

When you accepted the offer, the buyer received a message that includes a link to pay. But instead of in the "olden" days when your item would no longer be available for others once an offer was accepted, the change leaves the listing still active until they pay. That way, if another buyer comes and buys it, they get it. 

In other words, it's not really considered sold until payment is made.

I do have the payment method required to make an offer box checked in the buyer management settings. I figured maybe this was just a case of the buyer being unaware, but they haven't responded to my message after almost two days. I'm willing to just write this off as a loss after the four days are up, but am just genuinely confused about why I can't find the offer anywhere.

I'm sort of glad they're keeping the item up for sale until the buyer pays the offer though, since this means I could just sell it for full price in the meantime. I get the feeling this buyer isn't going to pay me based on the lack of response via message. But it sucks that there's buyers out there who are actively wanting to pay for their orders and aren't sure how, and someone could just swoop in and buy the item out from under them, like your situation.

I appreciate the info! Based on what you said, maybe I can't find it as an 'awaiting payment' order because eBay doesn't technically see it as an order yet, just an offer sitting in eBay purgatory. Guess I'll wait the next couple days out, and if I still can't find it anywhere when it's time to cancel, I'll take things up with eBay customer service.

The only email I got regarding the offer was one saying that I had a new offer on the item, and clicking the 'respond now' or 'view item' options leads to the same thing: the offer only shows up in the 'completed offers' section as expired on the website. On the app, it still just says the offer is pending. Super strange.

Does it show as sold?

Offers expire.

If not there as sold then there is nothing to "cancel", and nothing to "take up" with eBay CS.

It doesn't show as sold, no. I know offers expire, I've sold things via best offer and have had offers expire before lol, I promise I've been around the block at least a couple times. But this offer 100% was accepted, I accepted it minutes after it was made. The offer is shown as pending and awaiting payment on my phone, but only shows up as expired on the website.

I am running into the same problem. On the accept offer page it says ebay will charge the customer if I accept the offer. However, no one is being charged and item still for sale.

Just an update: The buyer didn't pay, didn't respond to my message, and the offer is still showing up as awaiting payment and expired at the same time 5+ days later. I think the offer will be in offer limbo until the item is bought by someone else. Or until the buyer pays, but I don't think that'll happen.

I thought maybe it'd automatically cancel after four days but I guess not. I'm assuming that's just for unpaid orders, and accepted offers are no longer considered sold/orders; maybe they never were and I'm just mistaken. I'm glad my item stayed up so I didn't miss out on gaining some views and watchers in the meantime, though.

Nice little learning experience in regards to the recent updates to offers. Appreciate everyone's input.

One thing I've learned the hard way from this is that having the box that says something along the lines of 'buyers must have payment method selected before making offer' checked in the buyer management area in settings doesn't mean much currently lol. I've read elsewhere on the community forums that they're only implementing immediate payment on accepted offers for certain buyers, like a test run of sorts.

Take anything I say with a grain of salt though, I'm obviously no expert. I hope your buyer pays!

I am having the EXACT same issue!  Accepted an offer and it shows as "pending awaiting payment" on the phone app, but "expired" on my computer.  It's only been 36 hours or so.  I guess I will message the buyer.  I thought they were supposed to be automatically charged.  ugh, so annoying!

Do they automatically get a strike against their account for not paying?  I'm having the exact same issue.  SO frustrating!
