You can open "not as  described" case on EBAY  or you can contact your credit card company and "reverse payment".   

There are many different types of scams going around...never heard of this.

Every single buyer and every single seller needs to get themselves acquainted with eBay's Money Back Guarantee, preferably BEFORE beginning to buy or sell here.

You received an item that's not as described, as I understand it.  You bought a coffee grinder, but received a stick.  

You have 30 days post-delivery to open an item not as described case with eBay.  Go to your Purchase History.  Find this transaction.  Click on "want to return".  Your reason will be "Not as described".  The seller has 3 days to respond.  The correct response is to send you a prepaid return label if he wants it back.  If nothing happens in 3 days, on day #4, return to your case and ask eBay to step in.  You'll be refunded from the seller's funds and told to keep it.  If he does send the label, however, you need to get that package in the mail quickly and you will be refunded when the seller receives the return.

So, do yourself a favor -- read the Money Back Guarantee.  It offers good protection.

In general, you have been given the proper advice on how to proceed when you get something different than what you received.  However, since you are in the UK, it would be best if you posed your question on their forums since the procedures and timelines for action may be different than here in the US. 

Don't worry about "posting to the wrong place".  For some reason, UK members are often directed here instead and it happens all the time. 

Do not file "item not received"  since you did get something, even though it was wrong.

Did you read the instructions? Place coffee beans on paper beat with stick put in coffee pot. No I'm just kidding, sorry that happened to you but just follow ebays protocols and you will get your money back. Be sure to leave a negative feedback.
