ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

I am mostly a seller on eBay, but I try to do a lot of research on similar items that I may be listing to get an idea of competition, etc. I am continuedly slowed down in search (which would be the same if I were a buyer searching)  by eBay's CLICKBAIT ADS! Three ads have to load before the item can be viewed. I am on a desktop, I have no idea what the mobile experience is, perhaps it is smoother.

It seems to take about 2-5 seconds for these ads to load, 2 of them are usually for eBay or their new credit-card program or similar, the other ad is completely unrelated to what I am searching for, but at least it is not a competitor!

This is like visiting AOL or Yahoo and trying to read a news article, you have to wait for all the CLICKBAIT ads to load 1st! I fully understand this is a revenue producing program for eBay...but we as sellers are paying high fees for using their platform for our items! My potential shoppers/buyers SHOULD NOT BE SLOWED DOWN in search by CLICKBAIT ADS!! Or, at the very least, eBay should be ABSOLUTELY SURE these ads will load quickly & smoothly without having to wait for the dreaded STOP SCRIPT message & then if the ad doesn't load, you get an EBAY IS NOT RESPONDING message, it does eventually click over, but many times I get so disgusted by waiting, I such quit searching!

I AM VERY SURE THIS IS THE SAME RESPONSE THAT POTENTIAL BUYERS HAVE!!

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

Should have added, when searching on AMAZON for the same item, they have one CLICKBAIT AD below the fold, but it loads INSTANTLY with the list of items!

Etsy is sometimes slow in loading, but it does NOT have CLICKBAIT ADS!

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

I search here a lot and never have that problem.  I don't know why, but perhaps an ad blocker would be beneficial.

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

Hi, my experience on my laptop is different than yours. Everything loads quickly. Can’t think of a time where i was ever frustrated by slow loading or felt it necessary to navigate away as a buyer. Now wading thru a bunch of unrelated listings while searching, that sometimes gets to me and i’ll take my business elsewhere out of exasperation.

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

I use an ad blocker.  Have for years which cuts down on having to see any ads and speeds up my page viewing/loading.

I'm not.  I frequent the Buyer's Board, no threads over there about this.

I'm sorry you have this problem.

@vintageista

Given the high rate of users that now utilize ad blockers it's hard to definitively say how many are sharing your experience when browsing as a buyer and if this is the cause of slow sales. I use the BRAVE browser, which has a built in ad blocker so I don't see what you're seeing. When I search for an item I'm simply presented with the results and it's fairly quick by all standards and measures.

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

I have ad blockers, so can't answer that. But as a buyer, the CHINESE ITEMS that popup first drive me crazy. millions of them. And even if I set results to USA only, I still get many of them that show that they are selling from US.
Could eBay do something about that please???

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

I'm on a laptop with adblocker, and I never see the ads you are talking about.

When I'm buying, EBay search loads rapidly, but having to filter out Chinese sellers with/claiming/? US locations is annoying.

Not if they're satellite locations, which they most likely are.

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

It certainly seems like the majority of posters responding to this thread use ad blockers, and/or don't have these problems.

Ran out of edit time.

A review of the first ten pages of the Tech Issues Board shows three posts on this.

Re: ANOTHER REASON FOR SLOW SALES .......

I have a whole list of reasons why ebay's sales are slow, it is neither a short list nor is it anything new nor complicated... A few things would take a bit of doing but most of it are simple, relatively easy fixes. All of the issues have been present long term, not a one of them have ever been addressed and sadly the only thing I have seen over the years are more of the same problems appearing.

It is my belief and my own experience as webmaster that tells me if ebay were to address the issues with diligence they could easily double their own traffic and probably increase it even more than that, simply by addressing the present issues.

It would appear common sense and ebay do not belong in the same sentence.

What you speak of?

Spamming your own traffic?

Yes, that's a very bad idea.

Most every half baked webmaster knows this.

Only big corporate websites seem to be oblivious and perhaps even believe they are immune to the effects.

Rest assured, they are not immune.

I could go on but I need rest.

I use one and I haven't seen any ads on any sites for years.  I'm amazed that there are still people in this day and age who DON'T use an ad blocker.
