Is this negative feedback removable?

So a buyer bought an item, complained about it. I immediately told them to return for refund. But they don't want to do that and asked for other options and started asking about other colors of the same item. I don't know if they were fishing for freebies or not, but chances are they won't like the other colors too. Since I'm not going to waste more return shipping cost money than I already am (free returns), I just tell them it's best to just return for refund and they can buy a similar item from any seller afterwards.

Buyer leaves me a negative calling me a waste of time... some other generic comments... but ends it with a middle finger emoji. Does that count as profanity under ebay's rules since it technically isn't a word? Can I get this negative removed?

I would absolutely call ebay! You did the correct thing by telling them to follow the procedure for a return. They asked about other options, but there are NO other options. Returning is the option. If they're going to keep what they paid for, not return it, how would they be eligible for anything? Not a refund and definitely not a 2nd of the same item (a FREE 2nd, additional item, just in a different color - hahaha!). The negative feedback + profane emoji = Call ebay to report the buyer, have them review the messages, have the feedback removed and block the buyer

Another one looking for free items, return for refund, that's it, good chance the Negative you received will be removed, sounds to me they have done this before fishing for freebies with the wording they use.

When a buyer has to return an item is not a positive buyer experience so I doubt Ebay will remove the negative as it was the buyers opinion. With that said, Ebay is lenient when you keep calling over and over again eventually someone feels sorry and will remove the negative.

You should be able to have it removed based on the bolded portion. If the buyer didn't flip you off then the FB would stay.

Good night and good luck

Based on reading a whole lot of messages here, I would agree this is probably removeable.

@bigdeals.etc

Please let us know if this is removable and how eBay feels about the middle finger emoji. Maybe that's the missing dynamic in our listing titles to get more sales.

Under policy the comment is removeable but not the rating

Yes, this is often recommended on this Board~call incessantly until someone removes it.

I would think the insulting hand gesture would count under profanity. Be sure to tell the person you talk to what the gesture means, other cultures may not understand the insult.

If this is true will the negative feedback still be shown but be blank (no comments)? I would much rather have both my and the buyer's comments shown to accompany the negative than to have it blank (so any buyer won't have to wonder what I did to get the negative). I feel my reply "Sorry. Return/refund was immediately offered but I can't agree to more than that" explains myself just fine.

With that said, if an agent agrees it's profanity but will only remove the comments, can I ask them to NOT remove the comments and pretend I never called them about this? Or are they forced to remove it under ebay policy?

With all due respect, I am not sure explaining it to them would work.  But maybe if they say it it is rude, vulgar and profanity, that  would work.  Not sure what it literally means would be known to another culture but I could be wrong.

i don’t know if you call if they will not remove it if you ask them not to or not

Yea, after considering that... it might be too much trouble/risk calling for them to remove the feedback. Some others here think the entire feedback is removable. I do agree with you that policy states only the comment will be removed, but we don't know what the agent will actually do. I'd obviously rather remove the entire feedback, but I'd rather not just have the comment removed only to have a future buyer question why I got that negative. And if the first agent I talk to insists on removing the comment only (even if I told them I change my mind and would like to keep the comment), then there will be zero chance calling back to get a new agent that will remove the feedback since the comments are removed.

So I've decided to do nothing and just keep the feedback and comments.
