I am actually surprised ebay did this. Recently a buyer made a totally false statement in feedback he left for me. Nothing about his remark was true. I've got all the documentation saved to support my claim. So naturally I notified ebay about his remark. Then ebay replied that there wasn't anything they could do about it. What kind of **bleep** crap is that?? Before notifying ebay I read through many of the policys, rules, etc. and it plainly stated any kind of untruth, false statements, etc is prohibited. This is absurd! I'm really beyond PO'd about this & I would like to take this further in upstairs management, if that's even possible. Has anybody ever had any luck in doing so? Because basically ebay is not playing by their own rules. I've been a seller for 20 yrs. & this is the first negative feedback I've gotten. Not that's any big deal it's the principle of the issue. Thanks for any suggestions or recommendations.

Sue the user. That was the old way of dealing with such: of course you will have to have proof.

You should have a backup plan in case of emergency.
It's illuminating that your original post made no mention of the fact that your buyer was left hanging for two weeks with no item, no tracking, and no communication.
IMHO a negative feedback for a non-performing seller is justified in this situation.

One more thing you need to worry about is that on or about February 20 you will have earned a defect on your selling account as you did not ship and item that was fully paid for because as you said you were out of stock and/or in the hospital in January. The 20th of each month is the day sellers are evaluated for prior months sales activity.. Negative FB does not effect your rating just your feelings and/or the public opinion. - it used to but not now. It is strange though that you did not mention anything to the buyer that you were bed ridden in your unique response to the buyers neg FB comments.
I received my only defect when I did not ship a protect that was damage in storage and did all the right things - first contacted the buyer and explained what happened, they understood and agreed a total refund was an acceptable solution. I refunded and I still got a defect - accepted my scarlet letter that hung around on my report card for the next 365/66 days. My fault.
