(EB took down my previous message)
A few days ago I received a message from the buyer of my computer that it arrived damaged.
I messaged back to start a return/refund claim.
9/12 He wrote back I would really like my cash back tht would be great
I wrote back to send me a photo of the damage so I could file a claim and to start a return claim.
We've been going back and forth. I sent him instructions for filing for a return.
He sent a picture of the damaged computer. below.
I wrote back that that wasn't my computer. ITMT I did file a report message to Ebay that I thought this was a scammer.
It's been 2 days and still have no indication he's sending the computer back.

Nothing you can do until you get it back and inspect.
Just wait until you get "Delivered" return tracking to find what he actually sent back.
If he doesn't return and is just trying to get a partial refund the case will automatically close in seller favor and delete any negative feedback he may leave.
So now it's just a waiting game.
Just be sure to be friendly, and keep insisting to please return. If a chargeback happens, all these responses will be forwarded to the CC company so you want to paint your customer service in the best possible light.

No need to keep going back and forth with the buyer, you did the correct thing in telling him to open a return for a refund. All you need to do is wait for them to open the return. Simply answer future messages return for refund as you did the last one.
If they do open a return wait for the item to be sent back, if it is not your computer then come back here and we can help with what you do next.

You have given him all the information he needs.
There is no need to go back and forth.
Unless he files a dispute with eBay, there is nothing for you to do.

And if he does return it, you will most likely receive the item in the pic he sent.

@liawri-75 Just tell them one last time that they need to open a return on ebay so you can send them a return label to send it back and file a damage claim with the carrier. Since it wasn't your item, they will be directed to the actual seller when they open the case. Good Luck!

That picture is showing a computer that looks like the one you sold, but with a damaged screen (and very poor lighting).

I lightened it up, in several stages, to be able to see what the picture really was. I looks like an all-in-one computer with a stand/legs like the one you sold.

The tell tale may be the sticker residue. On OP's listing photos there is sticker residue on the lower left. In the photos of the damaged item it's too dark to see anything, and lightened up doesn't produce the detail of that lower left corner. Seller will have to wait and see if anything is shipped back.

It looks like he turned the computer on and it has a faulty screen. I cannot tell what happened. So I messaged him to tell me.
I also reminded him to open a return claim.

You have done what you have needed to do. The ball is in your buyers court. Every time they write you, send this simple response.
I am sorry you are having issues. Please return the item for refund. Here is a link on where you can open your Return request.
Then give them the link.
If they write you again, copy and paste the message above again. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
Keep in mind that most buyers that are trying to keep from opening a Request for return is for one of two reasons. They don't want to return the item, they just want some money back. OR they have pulled this too many times in the past and Ebay took away their buyer protection [MBG] benefits.
Either way you need to stop the back and forth. Once you do that short email a couple times and they figure out that you aren't playing, it is likely they will go away or file the dispute.
BTW, have you looked at their Feedback Left for Others. That is something you should check out. It often can be telling.
That pic of a broken screen looks like a torn white envelope with a gold lining, with a hole in it and sitting on a black background. I certainly could easily be wrong. That was just my take when I first saw it.
Good Luck

In addition to once again advising to open a return for refund with the link, add that the refund will be given as soon as the serial number is checked against item sold.

I went through my Orders folder and sent him an EB postage to return the computer. He has until October 5 to return the computer.

I wouldn't have done that, but you certainly have every right to do that. In my post #11 I gave you some info I hope helps you.

LOL I saw an 'envelope' too. Did you see Lace's photos (Message 8)?
